and I'm gonna quickly head back to India under pretence of "visiting family back home" when my true intentions are of course to bag like 10 of these, give out 9 of them 9 poor kids in 9 different states around India and then bring the last one back to beautifully grey Londontown for my own tender love

And the main synth you’re sequencing with it is the Oberheim Xpander?
I love the Xpander. I also have the Studio Electronics Omega 8 and I’m going to build a modular synthesiser. DJ Falcon has a huge modular synth so he’s giving me some tips. I also think the Moog [MF-104M] delay unit is amazing. There’s a MIDI input on the pedal and the LFO and delay time can be synced in MIDI. When you change the delay time you have this kind of pitch-shifting effect, so you have this kind of synth. With the right settings you can build sequences, so you play one note, you process it through the delay and from a single note you get several notes playing. I love it. If you played the sequence it would sound like shit but when you do it like this it’s really cool.

Still got that latent 707 lust going on. Think I might have to bite the bullet next month and get one

I kept thinking about trying to score a reasonably priced TR so I could have a step sequencer that wasnt ultimately tethered to a computer (Maschine), but I feel like the prices on some vintage gear is just stupid these days, but I wasnt really digging anything else as it was mostly botique ish gear. Then Arturia came along and saved the day with the BeatStep. Sequence multiple MIDI channels simulataneously. Cool Sends CV/Gate. Very useful. And can be powered with a standard USB phone charger. Yes. Not to mention you can load scales (with a user defined scale) so you cant tweak pitches per step out of tune. YES. For 99USD FUCK YES
Given all that, having a TR series box would be badness incarnate

BeatStep is definitely on the shopping list HOWEVER maybe not the initial run. Will let them sort out the inevitable issues with first release before buying one.

With you 100% ...after the Arturia MiniLab flop (isnt the Spark terrible as well?) I am fully prepared to hold on to my 99 USD until we see what is up.
I love some of the hardware geeks I know...they get their NAMM hardon going...drop a grand...then half the stuff has issues when it finally shows up two months late. By the time they get their shit sorted on their first run gear, the pieces are widely available anyway...

TBF, I think Elektron take the piss with their prices a bit;
Except that no one else sells hardware, really, that does what Elektron boxes do as far as being playable instruments and live tweaking boxes. There are a ton of layers to any Elektron box. The Monomachine is probably the only one you could argue has competitors.
But yea. The stuff is pricey and they are either raising their prices or have raised them on all their products.
When I bought my Monomachine I just downloaded the PDF and had the copy place print and bind it for me. Cost like 17 dollars or something.
They also wanted 60 dollars for rack ears. fuck that.

My minibrute was FOB ordered during Namm when it was unveiled, and it was in perfect working order. Just a data point.
