@viralcode-bit harsh, but also true....

@stappardIt sounds liek you've simply sped up a minimal techno song, if you were to slow it down and treat as a techno/micro house tune, would be a tight little beat.

Currently trying to make something of this, I'm not sure if I'm really making dubstep so much as bass music at 140 bpm at this point, but I'd like to know what you guys think. Want to change the snare, maybe make the hats sharper, but I'm really at the conceptual stage with this.

If you're talking about the tune 'dancingshadow' then it sounds done and 'full' to me... what else where you thinking of adding? I like it... I'll have a listen to some of your other ones later.

ok people. my first shot at music production and my first shot at making dubstep, a genre i have defintley fallen for. please be as brutally honest as possible, the goods the bads the uglies. whether im on the right track or whether im no-where close. if you can keep it constructive, even better. my tool of choice was reason, and the bass etc are all my own little music attempts.

evening all

hoping you wouldn't mind taking a listen to a first attempt. very new to the genre and the production side of things. drums don't sound too great yet and I think the bass might be a bit sparse. needs to drop as well, as you will hear.

thinking of investing in a synth and some software for the summer, you are my judge and jury. cheers

Not bad. Here it is:

1. Get rid of/switch up that raw ambience in the background....it's a little too grimy for the track imo...but if you were going for that...cool, but EQ a bit....because right now, the sound evokes images of waiting in purgatory for the final judgement on whether I'm going to hell or heaven...if you get my drift. I think I understand where you're coming from with that....because I definitely go through the HL2 sounds and find similar shit like that....but it sounds like you sort of dragged and dropped it and then moved on.

2. The drums got swagger to them. Head nodding right now as I listen (on my 3rd go round). With this, a little more percussion could go in well...like switching shit up...extra drum hit fills would go well.

3. When your wobble progresses into the 1/32 (maybe not) sync rate, it gets kind muddle and drowns out. Womp, womp womp, wompwomp, wompwwwwwwww____. Bring that up a bit....or decrease the rate. Worth a try.

4. Some extra melodies would be good too....it's good that as it stands, the tune is short, because it doesn't get repetitive. But if you plan on increasing the length, definitely consider adding some next melodies and such.

That's what I'm hearing basically....but the tune's got swagger...just build on that.

I'm not any expert, believe me, but I've come quite a way over time...

Really appreciate the feedback, thanks for that Kapital

Working on a second version now, think you are spot on about points 1. and 3. Going to add a drop and extend it a bit, and throw in some more fills and melodies

drums are realllll good in this for starters... sample works perfect... basslines could be better in my opinion, sub bass sounds nice... like the little melody too...

you should add some extra *ZEST* from 1:50 onwards...

I like.
