Not sure if i'm reading correctly but it looks like you're frustrated that the value won't reset to a certain point after some automation? There are probably other ways to do it but I personally use reset patterns. Just make one pattern and set the value you want the knob to reset to in the pattern and whack the pattern in wherever you need it

Oh Yeah the other thing I do is manually reset it at the END of the automation. Like at the very beginning of the next bar following the automation. Say you're cutting out the bass before a drop slowly so you have a 8 or whatever bar fall in the bass eq... At the very start of the fifth bar I right click at 50% (because I draw my automation in the pencil took and left clicking flattens out a little before where you clicked, fucking up your curve).
This won't extend the automation length by a whole bar so it keeps it fairly neat

As far as i'm aware there's no automatic way to have it reset. It's time consuming but yeah it doesn't irk me TOO much

Tip - Try automating the swing at the top of the pattern selected to bounce between 20-40% and back again over the course of your track. Apply this to a hats only project. Bounce it out & reimport. Hey presto, instant shuffly swingy hi hat goodness. Vary & repeat.

Good tip its a shame you cant apply swing to single patterns though.

Yeah, always had issue with that.

Copying the hats into their own project for the purposes of this example isn't the end of the world though :)

EDIT - Alternatively, you could just mute everything that isn't the hats (or whatever), do the above & bounce, then reimport straight back in.

just write your pattern in the step sequencer, put the swing to desired amount, then when you like it, on the instrument right click it and select piano roll, it will still have the swing in the pinao roll, now you can go onto another pattern and change the swing without messing up your previous one.

Fuck you Rando, that is a good one!

I really dislike the way "groove" is integrated into flstudio. It's been down my list in terms of complaints, after audio functionality and pdc. I mean there is groove functionality there, so you can't really complain. But it is just a baby step compared to reason's groove mixer. The groove mixer is awesome.

Interesting idea I had last night - set the tempo to double what you're usually working at (say, 280), then double the time signature (F10 > Project > Time Signature).

You'll now have double the number of sample positions without the need to go into the piano roll.

it would take me a hella long time making things sound on time doing that....or maybe thats the point :?

in relation to this, does anyone know of any good tuts or thread about all of the piano roll options (flam, legato, randomize, etc) all of the options that are in there, it seems like those would be so helpful to drum patterns if i could just figure out how to use each one easily i dont even use the quantize cause it never gets it right, could be me, could be a retarded quantizer. :u:

Why? You could still quantize whatever you wanted, just in stead of 1234 as positions for each beat, you'd have 12345678 going twice as fast (therefore halving it back to 4).

i was just picturing me making random drum beats with trial and error clicking in the step sequencer using the mouse, not recording midi notes, but i get what your saying, would make everything 4 times as large though :/ i think that would only matter for the step sequesncer though, piano roll and playlist can fit to size..

ctrl+right click in the playlist in case anyone didnt know :h:

Yeah, the space thing would be an issue if you were using a standard monitor.

Quick question,

Found it a pain in the ass to manually do vocal stutters.
Just started using gross beat to do vocal stutters and time effects. How do i automate it so it goes 1/4 -> 1/8 -> 1/16

an easier more fun option would be the free artillery in computer music. You can play stutters like this on the keyboard. Artillery is capable of a lot more than that, too.

There are other stuttering plugins as well that aren't as involved as gross beat. If you're set on gross beat, you can do it, just get in there.
