It's a bit rough, but I think it was a pretty good attempt. Soundcloud

I hate to admit this, but monster sounds/ weird talking sounds and so on is what got me into making strange horror dubstep. I use reaktor, and play resampled patches from reaktor/skanner xt/the beast. I usually add a little FM to the sounds I want to talk or growl. Normally Ive already sampled them with FM, which I do just to save processor speed. here are some examples.
Ok so I just made an incredible reese with Absynth 5! I had no idea what I was doing, clicked around a bit and WALA insta Noisia bass. So I resampled it. I'm absolutely positive you could make HUGE growls with Absynth. I mean this reese I made was incredible, so a growl with some work could be more incredible. (especially if you know what you are doing). I feel that Absynth is overlooked for such an amazing synth. I don't see how it's not as popular as FM8 or Massive.

Ok so I was wondering how to get nice growls from FM synthesis. I can make alright leads, guitars but not growls and that is what I really love in the music. For example Knife Party or Excision make amazing sounds from FM.
don't know if this helps but i made an ok FM sound yesterday. Wasn't so much of a growl but it was definitely very robotic and had decent movement.
Basically i used fm8 to produce a bass tone. I always mess with the operators till i get a nice fat silvery gritty bass sound. Then I modulated one of the modulators to give the sound some movement. Then I automated the settings on about 5 plugins. I automated the formant knob on a vocoder (set to modulator type), I automated the vowel control on WOW filter, I automated the cutoff on a notch filter, and I used the autofilter to create some wobbling.
Then I resampled (flattened, bounced w/e) to another track. And added maybe 2-3 more plugins to the sound as well as warped the audio a lot.

Could I get the ableton project file of the skrillex one? I love being able to dissect it and see what's going on behind the scenes.

Yeah I was gonna say that all these growl attempts are very good and they sound just like Zomboy. So I'm sure he is doing similar things.

Ay yo, I put this video up a while ago because I figured I'd share it with the world haha, I'm not sure how many of you use reason but just chek out this video, it will make you have an epiphany...also it's made purely in reason 5, none of the 3rd party rack extensions are needed and even if you're using reason 4 you can grab it hahaha just hit me up with a PM and i'll send you the patch

This thread delivers!
Traktion, your sounds kill it! I wish you would make an instructional video instead of just posting the project files, as I like to follow the process and see the producers reasoning behind certain techniques. But, I really can't complain.

Zomboy's growls have a gurgle kinda sound to them which makes them awesome. Deadweight is my favorite song right now. I also love xKore's growls.

Actually I'd really appreciate it if someone could upload that KTN massive preset. I'm uh, using the demo version of Massive still. Honestly haven't found a good reason to buy the real deal.
