they did an absolute shit tonne of original music wtf lol
I believe Zeppelin was one of the bands known for ripping lyrics and music directly from other lesser-known bands without giving credit or royalties. But everyone did it back then.
They did a few times but nowhere as many times as there are entirely original songs by them and royalties weren't credited back then as strongly as now. Not to mention the number of bands that started with nothing but covers or that it was done with a few blues tunes and there is a strong tradition within blues music was to adapt already existing songs. Not to mention also they wrote a shit ton of entirely original material that was superior to what they nicked from or that while some of them may have been based on something suspiciously like something else they go in a different direction.
Also how many of you listen to hip hop based on samples? Or 9 samurai by Kode 9 is supposed genius round despite being based on another piece of music? Plus even if you did prefer the originals that's still not many tunes so saying "I'd rather here the originals" is a dumb thing to say as that would imply there entire career was covers.
But regardless of any of what I just said. They wrote this and it fucking rules.

I personally see nothing wrong with sampling if credit's given. Shit I listen to gabber, which is pretty much 85% samples and 15% kick drum. I was just pointing out that they did indeed partake in the act of "sampling".
yeah I just take issue with the fact that people use the fact that they covered a couple, have a couple that sound like they might have adapted them out of something and one that just coincidentally in my eyes sounds like another generic rock song means that they don't still have a massive back catalogue of good sounds or they happen to be stupidly talented musicians
most I hear comes off as boring & unoriginal & no swing
JD perfected hip hop in the 90s and then all the southern folk started back up that 1234 robot drums like on that golden age hip hop when they wasnt using breaks
now shit is just over the top dumb, only real "trap" music i like is ugk three6 shit when it wasnt even called that by every hipster online (b4 online)

Don't get me wrong, I support them fully and appreciate all they've done. I just wish they would stop sounding like every tune, DJ or producer is the greatest, most profound thing ever deserving of would-be poetic, or often just absolutely nonsensical, praise.
Pretty much every review on boomkat
fucking gives me a headache! Swore i would never do a music review after reading some of that drivel back in the day....
See now Boomkat I understand to some degree tho, they're obviously trying to sell records since, well, they're a record store. But actual blogs etc. ...
I know some blogs take it too far, and use words they don't understand, but what do you want? Just post a song and say "Yeah yeah, this tune is sick". Be a bit boring. If I'm gonna check out a band or artist, I want to know a little bit more about them other than that they make "sick tunes".
Yeah I know it's a bit tricky, and I'm definitely not asking for infinite repeats of "this tune is huge" - but but it's possible to present information without sounding pretentious.
Your blog is a good example of doing it right in my opinion, it's pretty down to earth and the language doesn't make you seem like you take the whole thing overly serious. Yet you still write about some of the best stuff and the passion for music shines through.
I guess it's just the tone of some blogs making it seem like this shit is super serious and shrouded in some kind of mysticism, when in fact it's just music and it's all fun and games (and I mean that in the best way possible).

Yeah, guess so.
I hate people trying to make out that everything is TOTALLY THE BEST TUNE EVER AND WE WILL REMEMBER TO OUR DYING DAY too.
Whoever it was in the house forum who made the post about hype and people trying to force us into believing we're in the middle of a huge new musical movement that we'll tell our grandchildren that we were part of was spot on. We're in nothing more than a musical interlude at the moment, despite what the hype-mongers would have us believe.
The SUNKLO hype is the perfect example. Pretty standard "bass" tunes to be honest, this isn't like the start of jungle, or the end of garage or anything.

Pretty much. I wouldn't say theres any sign of anything particularly interesting kicking off at the moment...
Just feel like everything's a take on something that's still so familiar to everyone, hard to even call it a throwback when people that were formerly "dubstep" producers are producing house and techno, when people are still making house and techno every day anyway. It's just people making gradual small changes (if any change at all) on something rather than people rejecting what came before and really shaking things up. I do think it's just people really trying to have something that they can talk about in the future, how they "went to bare warehouse rave back in day" (RAVE SPONSORED BY MULTINATIONAL DRINKS CORPORATION).
Ambient is the way forward bros, shake off the shackles of drum pattern opression.

Worst shite ever.
Also Electro swing is nothing but safe music for the rhythmically retarded overly sheltered sect of the middle class to pretend they like dance music to.

Aye.
I'm not sure what it is about it that makes that vomit taste appear in my throat though. Possibly the fact that all the vocals are incredibly sickly and cringe-worthy...
