The audio jack on my laptop is fucked, so in a fit of panic I thought fuck it and ordered a ChromeCast... now I've just realised it doesn't have a separate audio output (just HDMI), so I need to buy an HDMI splitter to use my speakers (the ones on my TV are shiiiiiiit)... which would've solved my problem without the Chromecast anyway.

It still seems pretty cool to be able to throw stuff from my phone though, I suppose.
