@alpz - digging the distortion in the intro, nice use of overdrive/saturation. Also like the bass and sub pulses that come in. Snare in the intro is dope as. Almost has an alien feel. Tbh reminds me of the Killawatt/ipman remix of Author's mothership - is this a form of inspiration? Kick seems too loud and a bit too subby for the tune, sounds like it needs more punch. Sub is lovely.
@mthrfnk - intro... I dunno. Doesn't fit with me tbh, but I think that's just the note progression - I find it... weird. haha. I reckon you could try a different snare though - all your tunes seem to have the same sample/feel with the snare. Bass/midrange needs some more EQ - seems to really block out the vocals. Not much else otherwise.
@npcompl33t - at first I thought it was a rock tune :P heavy phaser use I think ruins any synthesis you may have had. Snare is almost completely lost - try layering a clap over the top and EQing so it stands out a bit more.
@BudSpencertron - interesting, to say the least. You say no effort so I can't really comment as my feedback usually surrounds the mixdown. Melodies are interesting and the tune in general sounds quite progressive. Main synth could probably disappear more subtlely.
@captaincarnage - was going to respond but realized you only posted responses.

Here's my new one:

@lightshapers Really nice drums, punchy and interesting. Maybe could use something more in the buildup like vocals or something. Lovely synth work in the drop, almost a complextro like drop. This is a really good track, mate. Wasn't expecting anything this good. Maybe the main bass needs a bit more fattening but that's all I can say. Great work.

@subfect I think the intro needs a pad or something, I dunno just something more. Nice mixdown on the drums. Good dark vibe and nice reverb on the vocals. Sorry, not good with feedback on these type of songs. Nice sounding low bass.

@ZankUSA This is the third song of yours I've left feedback on. :D The intro I think needs more depth with maybe a pad or just another synth. Nice park, slow drop and good work with the drums. Definitely keep working on this.

This tracks a different style to my usual. I think the main part before the drop needs more synths and stuff.

I will give some technical critiques later in the day because i cant have my speakers loud right now.

@Subfect : Thats so chill dude. I love the vocals. I like your style.

@Lightshapers : So sick dude. Thats the kind of music I love. Your snare sounds really good. I like the break you put in the middle.

@Living_Tragedy : Really good. That wobble is pretty intense. I like the little wawawawoo hahaha you throw in. It makes the filth a little more managable ha.

So I feel like i am starting to harness the power of FM8 a little better. I have been just making sounds all day trying to learn the ins and outs of FM synthesis.

@living tragedy - bass sound is nice but you need the drums to cut through a bit more, whole mix could do with a bit of eq to brighten it up a little

@gaol - some nice sounds. quite like the chopped up speech. maybe work on the arrangement a bit

@subfect - the reverb youve used sounds very nice, could maybe glitch/chop the vocal up ?

@zank - maybe too much reverb on the waaarb, dont think it needs it. maybe try a little saturation/distortion, make it a bit more 'in your face'

@carnage - the brass sounds very 'hi fi' in comparison to the rest, mix needs more eq, think you should chop up that bassline as well

@mtl6 - the mix is quite well balanced, vocal sits well could arguably come up a little more, def needs some sub though

@budspencer - can really notice the limiting/compression @0.57 when the arrangement thins as the snare all of a sudden pops out, before then its a bit bogged down in the mix

@livingtragedy - thanks man, working on the intro a bit but I don't really want to fill it up much (if at all - which is a different direction for me) :P Your tune, not my kind of 'step but it's well produced - though I must say I disagree with the melody choice during the break. hehe. If anything that bass drones on after a while.
@gaol - thanks mate, you an aussie? (nickname spelling). Really love that vocal sample and the chorus/reverb on it. I feel there is a pretty major disconnect between the sounds and the drums, and the jump from 1 octave to 1-2 higher seems a bit much.
@lightshapers - not bad man, but I don't think your choice of snare's tone fits with the rest of the tune. Really like that sparkling synth you got going on as a melody. Nice distortion, bass isn't over the top. Good job!

Update from me. Got the breakdown/buildup for the 2nd drop done.

Haven't posted in here in AGES! So glad the community's still going at it hard. You guys are awesome.

subfect - Not a huge fan of the vocal sample, but that's just my personal taste. I reckon the hats could do with a bit more high frequency coming through. Would just make them sound a little less muddy. I'm LOVING the dark feel of the tune - that bass is deep! I think you could use the vocal sample when the bass is going at it. Would be nice to hear a bit more of that awesome bass. Not too sure if the kick roll into the second drop really works with the laid back feel of the tune. Makes you feel like it's going to go more high energy that the first half of the song, and it's kinds weird when it doesn't. Can't wait to hear this finished mate, going to be big.

Gaol - You've got some really cool sounds in there, but you need a lot more sub. Most of the mix in there is mids and highs. Going to make people's ears bleed in a club :) I think a lot more work on the general arrangement and structure of the tune would really help to bring it together. Some melodic synths would be nice - pads and the like. The drums need to come up in volume by like, 5 dB, and they could sound a lot bigger as well. Could do with a bit less distortion on the snare, although that might have been added by Soundcloud's transcoding. What level does your master track peak at? Is it going into the red at all?

Living_Tragedy - Loving that intro. I reckon you could get some nice variation in you kick-snare pattern. The build you've got there is awesome. Perfect. Your bass sound could come down in volume a little - just to make room for the other sounds. The little melodic drop-outs you do are awesome, but they sound really quiet compared to when the bass is blasting away. Because of the LFO freq on your bass is off-beat, which I love, I think it'd help to stick in some hats to keep the beat obvious. Would also stick some more stuff happening in the high freq, which the tune is lacking in a little at the moment. Loving where this tune is going - looking forward to the next update.

I started this tune yesterday and got a little stuck. I'll be sticking in a proper outro and some melodic synths to make the tune feel a little more polished, and also some variation in the bass sounds in the second drop. No one likes a copy + paste job. Let me know what you think!

thanks, @jakedubber. I kinda thought the 2nd drop worked, as I pick up the hats and kick pattern considerably to give it more energy :) I'm also a huge fan of the bass whomps and growls, but I didn't want to overdo it as I wanted the vocal sample to be the centrepiece. That said however, keen to know why you dislike it - is it the key or whatever, or just that particular part of the tune that I've sampled? Also - this tune was built around the vocals, so swapping in other stuff may not work very well. hehe. Hats - these have been a sticking point me for some time - everyone seems to have something to say about them, so trying to figure it out. haha. They probably could do with a bit of a boost to bring them up in the high end. Onto yours - those bass stabs at the start are killer. I love the plucky feel of them. hats feel a bit loud, especially in the intro, some frequencies are actually quite painful - have you taken a dip out around 4.5-5khz?

@subfect - i like it, very deep and clean :D the only thing i dun like is the idea of kanye west over it
@living_tragedy - the intro is nice but u gotta work on the bassline more.. change it from time to time give it some movement

@subfect - Ah, fair enough. Might be worth making that a little obvious. A new kick-snare pattern could be cool and would be a nice way of bringing in a little more energy. Not a fan of the vocals because of the autotune. Really gets on my nerves :P Not much you can do about it, and the bass more than makes up for it. WIth the hats, you could duplicate one of the sounds and pitch it up like, 5 semitones, turn it down a little, chuck on some reverb and have it go mental in the background. Would let you keep the hats you have, while adding some much-needed high-freqs. Worth a go maybe.

Yeah, I'm pleased with the intro of my tune most. Rest can get to fuck really :P Hate that now I've uploaded it, I have a metric fuck-ton of things I want to change. I agree actually, the hats are a touch too loud. Haven't made that dip, no. I'm making this on headphones unfortunately as I'm out of the country for a few months. Can't wait to get back to my sexy monitors! Cheers for the feedback.

@Still Young - cool tune, but drums is too loud. May be -9db to drums and sidechain to bass would be great
@subfest - good bass and vocal. i don't like kick drum like that. Also reverb is great.
@lightshapers - yeah yeah, it's cool track! really! I don't like a lot of bass - keep it down. Sick drums, synth and etc. I like your track

Here's my new remix, check it, comment, I need your feedback

@GuitarJon : Your drums are a bit too far in the mix, and these synth are overused. There's good thing on that remix, but it's missing a bit of originality to me, and these vocals are too loud ! Good job anyway.

@Still Young : I like these vocals, and all of these 80's sounds, but your hats are a bit too low. A bit more rythmic elements would be fine, and some reverb on that snap could add depth to your tune.

@jakedubber : I'm not a big fan of this synth, it's hurting my ears tbh :( Hi cut it a little bit, that will let room for your hats, and add a notch at 200hz for your snare wich is too low in the mix.

@Subfect : There's some good things on that tune, but I dislike that vocal sample. Maybe you should work it a bit more and add variation to it. A delay on short parts for example, with differents pitch, different reverbs etc. Add a bit more percussions too :p

Here's just a clip of my last tune, wishing it would be released soon. And btw, I'm proud to announce that i've signed 2 tracks on Phantom Hertz Recordings :)

@GuitarJon - I really like the intro to this. I think you need a bit more of a build to the drop though. Your bass sounds need a bit more sub in there. Hard to hear. Just as a general point I'd say your bass sounds need a bit more work. They sound a little simple. I love the arrangement, but it'd be nice to get some interesting stereo stuff going on in there. Sounds like your synths are all coming at you straight down the middle - no stereo width. Also reckon your drums could use a bit of beefing up and could come up in the mix a touch. Finally, just from looking at the waveform I'd guess that your tune is way over-compressed/limited. Need some more dynamic range in there. Really looking forward to hearing this develop.

@Still Young - Contrary to @GuitarJon's feedback, I'd argue that your drums are at a perfect level. I reckon the tune does need a bit more chest-rumbly sub though. I love the intro, but I reckon it needs something happening to suggest how loud the main part of the tune is in comparison. Turned it way up and scared the shit out of me :) Really really enjoy the way you've used the sample. Superb. I think you just need to work a bit more on the structure and get some good mastering on the final thing. This is going to sound big.

@lightshapers - Those drums are blowing my mind man. Serious punch there. These bass sounds as well man - properly deep. I reckon some cymbal hits would make the whole tune a lot more fun to headbang to. In your little drop-out bits I reckon some glitchy sound going mental in the stereo field would work well. Be nice to open that up a bit. A cool vocal sample would be wicked just before the drop, maybe during the bass stuff as well - like little 'huh!'s and stuff. Hard to explain - have a listen to this to get what I mean.

Thanks @Darj and @subfect for the feedback on my tune. Here's an updated version. I've given the snare a bit more punch, tried to get rid of the really ear-bleedy freqs in the main synths, added a melodic synth and given it a proper ending. Let me know what you think.

@jakedubber I really like it dude -- I think theres a little too much reverb on everything...it sounds a little too wet for my taste, but that's only a minor issue. I would either get rid of the 3 little kicks right before the second drop, or do something a little more interesting. Really like the hold at 2:56. Maybe try to glitch out the second drop even a bit more to make it even MORE intense then the first drop? I know you added some extra synth plucks and stuff, but maybe change up the main synth a bit too? Overall really cool. I also really dig the intro. I suck at intros, so props to you.

@GuitarJon I agree with others -- the drums are too quiet and don't sit well in the mix. I'm not really a fan of the filtering out at 0:20 either. I think you need more sub in the track, overall. The vocal sample is cool though, and I think it's a really fun, dance-able track and has a lot of potential. I think you just need to work on the mix down a bit more, and you'll have a solid remix. The drops are sick.

@Still Young I agree that the drums are too loud, especially the snaps. I feel like the hi hat patterns could use some work...I was thinking of a much slower sort of vibe with the hats only slightly pushing the tempo forward, if you get what I mean. The bass is fucking dope though, and for a WIP, this is awesome so far. The drop is perfect and flows really nicely. You use the whole stereo field really well. I think it just comes down to some minor mixdown issues with the drums / hats, and you'll be on your way to a sick track :W:

@darj - raven. simply beautiful. the depth in your sound is on point. major props man, this song is perfect. got yourself a new follower!

@jakedubber - reptilicus. really cool intro, i like the samples in this. nice synth work, they didn't seem to harsh on my end. the end melody is nice, try adding a bit more delay to bounce it around. overall really cool track.

@almostskate100 - linework. intro is sick man. i really dig the glitchiness. drop synth is really funky. background melodies are a very nice touch. i'd say the over all loudness of the drum group could come down a bit, they stand out a bit too on top. but this track is sweet man.

made some new patches and tried making a new chain for my bass groups, threw together some heavy sounds for fun. what do you guys think?

@Darj thanks for feedback. Your track is great. Deep and nice vibe. But snare is very dry. Phantom Hertz Recordings! Congratulations!
@jakedubber thanks for feedback. not bad. i don't like kick sound in 1 minute, sond without body

@guitarJon hm really hard to give feedback on this but i see it without any opinion on the genre hm i like the pitching bass part and the abssdrum i dont like the sanre so much atm i would like to hear one on top with a way longer tail or let this on cut threw the mix harder.

@jimbeaux i fucking love the grove of the bassline no joking around just try to bring everything little bit more upfront i really feel all the arrangment just maybe some more crisp overall;
try to add some noise to the bass just on top and maybe another crisp snare layered on top but this could turn into a banger :h:

@almostskate 100
the drums are pretty clean man nice and nice hi hat room feeling but the bass could need some deeper harder abssline layered underneath maybe even a really low saw just following the midi notes maybe try to add little bit more reverb on the snare

sorry for adding a video but soundcloud fucked that one in the ass actual tune starts at 0 55 best quality is 720 haha video sucks but was bored
