not to get too guardian on everyone, but what in the uk is like the new rising urban music, if bassline-y stuff like this, grime, funky house etc seem past their time, i genuinely have no idea

Tbf you could find equally ridiculous examples of tunes & titles in pretty any genre
And i'd rather listen to a slightly naff Scrambled Ed tune that doesn't take itself too seriously but is jokes & actually has energy than some all-analogue, highly acclaimed 8 minute techno-borefest

Hotflush's stuff is not all analogue though. That's part of the problem. It's all clean and boring.
and nah just the track titles alone there are enough to put me off ever listening to that.

Ah nah i wasn't getting at Hotflush in particular.
and true, tbf 90% of Scrambled Ed's output is wank for gurned out crustys but this is an all time riddum

I'd get that when it relates to dubstep and it's just expanding on saying something is filthy. But on the other hand, a genre like dnb has suffered a whole lot just from taking itself way too seriously. Like when every track had to have their names taken from pharmacy or from a science lab.
Not to go in on the whole Duchamp deal, but naming the track can obviously play a part in the reception of the work.
