I maybe should quit uni too tbh. Getting very little out of it and I'm gonna have to pay back 200k kroner (about 19k pounds) when it's done

If I quit now I could prolly pay off what I've loaned already. Dunno what I'd do though, I really don't wanna go and work day to day in the pharmacy thing like I did for a few months last year.

The realest reason I'm doing uni is to postpone responsibility and adulthood, reckon it's the same for loads of people. Social Sciences degree won't help me for shit either, and I feel like it's more interesting to read about those topics at my own pace rather than being slooowlyyy walked through them by lame, vague powerpoint presentation lectures once a week. Maybe it'll get more interesting later on but right now it's slow and obvious mostly.

The biggest problem like agent said is the lifestyle and social shit is the best with uni.

I'm basically studying so I can have the loan and live away from my family in a sick city like Glasgow, not for a carreer and not really to learn either

lol life is so hard bro

I could study in Oslo where education IS free but unless I wanted to live with my parents (fuck that) the cost of living would make it even more expensive

there should be some kind of "uni boyz complaining thread"

at least you can be honest and objective about it. most uni boyz don't even consider any of the above. ultimately if you are using it for life experience / give you time to decide how you want to progress in life I think that's fine. I would suggest making sure you do get some kind of qualification at the end so you have something to show for the time when talking to employers etc but apart from that use the opportunity for what it is and have a good time. It'll never be as good after these couple of years

i think we usually use that coursework thread for bitching

yeah, im looking at uni as something for the cv and something to fall back on, it's always good to have a qualification, decided some time ago i didn't want to work some sort of office job that would be the natural conclusion to uni and my degree but there's still no harm in having something to show you work hard and are intelligent, whatever field you're trying to get into

stuff i've explored while at uni has also been key to shaping what i want to do in life

basically i wanna live a life of bohemian poverty then give up and start selling pop songs to labels, move to LA and live in splendor and cocaine and drown myself in my infinity pool by age 45

Sounds better than not going tbh. go fuck about for a few years, get to move out and end up with 20k of Faux debt lol
I just went to work and added like 4+ years of shit work to my life

yeah that life sounds about right rkm

Thing is though how much qualification does a social sciences degree from a 2nd rate uni have? It's not like it really showcases any proper skill. It just shows that I can write about vague sociological concepts a bit and am used to being surrounded by self righteous sociology wankers.

I reckon in terms of career investment I could get more milage out of four years of work than this. BUT four years of work sounds incredibly lame whereas "show up for 2 hours a day, do an all-nighter twice a month and have loads of time to fuck about" is pretty nice.

Maybe there are jobs out there that are actually comfortable and A) not academic B) not unrealistic entrepreneur schemes but I doubt it

Maybe the solution is to just go 100% on the music for real. Has anyone on this forum ever tried that? Sounds scary. Are you sure you want it that bad? What if you don't love it enough? What if you don't love anything that much to fully dedicate yourself?

i've come to the conclusion i want to work in music anyway, only thing i really care about so why not

i probably wouldn't focus entirely on my own music cos it's very hard to make a living, and i don't have the confidence in what i'm doing atm, the idea of just living in a flat on benefits with mates playing in a band is very attractive though

so probably try and find an interesting job and try and kick that shit off in spare time

i'd imagine bare people on this forum eventually did music full time man, almost everyone's had an account here at some point

You could do a bit of training by making a net lable :6:

@Harkat both are valid spent, it's imo more about how you rate psychology/social science as a lens to look through for a long stretch of your life, (if you take it seriously/respect it that is).. because numerous people have acceptet it just for the pseudo relevant aspects to it, that it has, the way of thinking etc and just used it as the territory for a job/ or ofcourse just an extra angle for their education. You know this ofcourse but..
I don't know if it makes sence or is worth to notice how it's closer to a scene more than a genuine science. You dip in and you dip out for a bit.
In some ways that's positive, because it changes around more and you can have more input on the whole. I'm taking my time spent in philosophy as part of the point, where I quickly found out that the bachelor was exclusively preparation for the master where you then get to have an opinion- but only really during the last two years. I do think psychology could do with a bit of harkat tho :6:

issue with this is many people are competing for this job, you may have difficulty finding a job in this field as they are limited.
