Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
yeh i reckon you can only find the morphine in hospitals but i've been told otherwise... prior to this patch you certainly could but i've had no luck personally... had to sit in a barn for about an hr near where you are whilst a mate trekked north to berezino hospital and back to administer morphine... hopefully they introduce alternative ways to treat broken bones temporarily.. so far i've just chosen to respawn a few times if i'm alone with no morphine

Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
yea just respawned, went to cherno got axed to death by a couple of guys lol
i could have camped the spot i was at and hoped someone would have came along with morphine, had a lee with plenty of ammo, an ak with a mag and plenty of food, bandages, etc
just was bored waiting and no one else i play with was near the spot

Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
next update they are going to nerf the zombies ability to break your legs i think.. hoping that sort of thing occurs less during the first few hours of gameplay until there are alternative solutions
Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
For me, it's gotten to the point where zombies don't really bother me any more. I'm usually roaming round the countryside, so it's rare that I get agro unless I do a supply run, and if I do I can just evade them until I get to one of the large buildings (those long barns are beautiful killing fields).
It's a little annoying that you have to spawn without any weapon though, few times I've come across guys who just axed me down, and I couldn't do anything to stop it. Although I did manage to scare someone with an axe off by aiming my torch at them

Wait wait wait... axes are weapons now?
Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
On a side note, I don't get why axes and crowbars can be used as weapons, but hunting knives can't. I mean seriously, if I'm getting chased by some axe wielding psycho, I'm going to consider stabbing him with my knife if that is all I have on me

Re: DayZ: An open-world, perma-death zombie survival game
Blimey, im in the middle of an intense run...
Started with spawning somewhere on the east coast, totally lost. Within 30 seconds, i rounded a corner to find some tnuc with a HUGE fucking gun. Big heavy machine gun thing with legs for it at the front. I just lay down in front of them expecting to get blown away...but to my (ludicrous levels of) surprise, they just walked up to me, and dropped the gun on the floor, along with a TONNE of ammo! Turned out to be a M249 saw, a hench machine gun thing with 3 clips of 200 shots of ammo for it, aswell as like 3 clips of stanag ammo which can be used in it as well! I was like...what? The other guy then proceeded to break out some insane grenade launcher thing and start blowing up everything in sight. I figured this guy was probably cheating in some way, let off like 30 shots into the guys head/chest then realised he was definitely hacking...
But I just thought hang on, ive still got the gun at the moment lol so i just ran away from the bloke and into a little complex of buildings, hid in a load of shit then disconnected!
New server, one bandage later and ive got a brand new character with an obscenely big gun lol
I then spent the last couple days exploring the east coast, before eventually heading inland and seeing what I can find. On the way ive managed to find myself a compass, toolbox, hunting knife, matches and a hatchet, aswell as a makarov with loads of ammo, bandages, morphine and just about everything I need!
Then proceeded to just straight up explore, and from walking around semi aimlessly (i had a compass and a vaaague idea whereabouts on the map i was) i managed to stumble across the nw airfield! Pretty happy with that. Gave it a good scout out, and found an M4A1 as a weapon to chuck in my alice pack for possibly someone else if i meet up with a mate somewhere. Aslong as loads more stanag ammo. However, I totally nearly got screwed over. Standard stuff, i was in one of the barracks buildings in the NW airfield, and a zombie i couldnt see properly hit me through the wall and knocked me out...for ages. A swarm of zombies then started eating me and i figured i was buggered. Mad timing though, I regain conciousness with less than 1k blood left, pull out my M249 asap, and blow the fuckers to hell. Quick as I can I then get a bandage on the go, and eat all the food in my backpack to give me the best chance possible. And I wind up somehow surviving with 58 blood! woop! lol
Crawl my way out of the NW airfield and basically just start roaming the most out of the way looking fields i can see for any animal i can kill and eat. I was looking for at least an hour with no luck at all (south west ish from the airfield i think) until i come across not exactly what i was looking for! 2 vehicles hidden in a clump of trees to the west of the airfield! Have a look in the Ural truck thing, and it totally looks like a clans storage truck or something. So many weapons, tonnes of ammo, food, car parts etc. Buuut, both the fuckers are totally nackered! Theres a tractor with the engine on red, so i left that the hell alone, and got in the big truck thing with all the equipment. Figured my best bet would be to try and move it far enough and hide it somewhere so the people who left it wont be able to track it down hopefully! One of the wheels was out though, so the only way i could get it anywhere was this silly fiddly thing where if i held reverse and right, it slowly rotated to the left on the spot, then i could accelerate forwards and it would swing to the right but I would make a few metres progress. Spent nearly an hour shuffling the thing forward until it was in the best cover i could find for it, a group of trees quite a long way away from where I found it. Then got out, turned round to find a pig and killed the fucker and ate it.
And thats it! Im still alive (somehow...) lieing next to the truck, hoping its still there when i get back from work, on 4k life, with now everything i could ever want (map, compass, knife, matches, toolbox, hatchet, ghillie suit, alice pack, M249 with a good 600 shots, spare M4A1, M1911 and enough medical supplies to last me years)
Now all I need to do is make my way to the city im on the edge of, hope i can find me a spare wheel and some fuel, then im on the motherfucking road again!
hehe, good fun...
