Again, if the minibrute is any indication - I preordered it when it was revealed at namm, in January, got one of the first ones that that hit the states, in MAY, if I recall correctly... You can ask Sharmaji when he got his, we got them like within a couple of days of each other.

Getting a brand spanking new pair of AKG702s from Sweetwater for 315--not the best price I could have gotten (saw them for 275 on eBay)...but having their warranty and customer service behind them makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

eBay can be great for cheap(er) gear, but after 14 days you are pretty much SOL if something goes wrong.

Good bye AKG240s (well not really goodbye) Hello new cans : ) Considering how much I work on headphones these days I needed an upgrade. The little woman is working from home in the upstairs landing outside my studio. Apparently it annoys her to listen to the same C5 synth patch note over and over again...

Its funny to me how this worked out. Told my sales rep (feel so fancy saying that lol) I found better deals and what he could do about the price. SennhieserHD 600s he "absolutely cannot do anything less than the list price" but the AKGs 35 dollars off no problem. Wonder if Senn. has some kind of pricing control system.

It never hurts to ask for a discount! Also being prepared to buy immediately helps a lot. "I have the cash in hand, what can you do about the price?"

Dude, the whole thing is priced controlled.

And yeah, the music or sounds over and over. Seriously, I have a major karmic debt to pay so many people for just endlessly listening to the same shit. Jebzus I feel for them.

Yea. I figured as much. Believe it or not, cowboy boots are the same way, lol.

I used to make my girl sit and listen to two or three mix versions over and over and ask which sounded better. Well, I better rephrase and say it happened once. She insisted they all sounded the same and I kept insisting there were differences. :u:

Now its headphones all day every day...

@rockin: Yea, those do look nice. I went with the 702s because they have the leather headband and nicer material on the ear pieces. Wonder what the differnce is with the 712s.

Did you ask him if he even knows how to eBay? I remember that...lol. Did he actually end up charging you more than quoted for shipping after the fact? Its like sorry bro...set a reserve then... :t:

Bollocks to him, if people are too dumb to set a reserve that's their own fault.

I was looking at that as well the other day before I realised just how modded it was...extreme pitch control sounds jokes

ok, well it was £300, which isw ridic for a 707, but they all seem to go for that or more, crazy, they were £50 for ages a long time ago. The realtime sequencer manipulation is what its all about.

It is also seriously modded, but it has switches to keep stock, all drums on seperate outs which i will use, so can eq and filter to keep out the harsh. And there are very few decent 707 demos around, all youtube vids, the samples sound great. I won my x0x with 909+707 samples. im into super minimal but analgue fx chains goodness at the moment.

And for less than a stock one, whihc might get boring fast, is a bargain. I paid £300, can see the cost of others sold recently on ebay (HERE (£340-400).

I think thats the rule with gear, i never really lust after afterthing specific, despite this thread title ! :cornlol: but see a bargain and grab it. Im sure ill at least get my money back, and more, by selling smartly, doing a decent demo vid etc. Ebay is a big library once youre on the 'property ladder'

I look for things in the wrong category (got a roland r8 for £90 in the 'guitars' section), and things that end in the day, or on a frdiay night.

So i need to sell some other shit now, anyone looking for a 24 track digital recorder?

cheers
