This is an electro track i've been working on for a while, and its starting to come to an ending point. I do still need to change the second drop section. What I need y'all to help me with is the overall mixing/mastering. Im still working on my mixing skills so I need y'all to give me some tips to make my mix sound more professional. As for the mastering, usually I would send it to be mastered, but I really don't feel like paying, so I am attempting to do it myself using a chain of Ableton EQ-8, Multiband Dynamics, and Dada Life's Sausage Fattener. It'd be great if y'all could give me some technical feedback.

Craggle! Awesome Job I Love It, Quite Emotional, Everything Fits Together very well :) Perhaps A Bit Reminiscent Of Baauer's Work :)

No, I hadn't even heard that track until you said this. >.< Upon going and listening to it I am a little upset at how similar it sounds. Thankfully it's just the intro to that one that sounds similar to what I'm working on. :|

lightshapers: pretty awesome vibe man, def a feel good thing you got goin on... i think your synths could use a little more body

dubesteppe: i really dig this! there is just one particular sub that doesnt fit though... i think the sub you have playing at the end of each bar needs to be worked on a little more and you'll have yourself a pretty unique tune.

1stfiest: such an awesome rythym! i was noddin my head to this one! awesome variation as well. all i think you could benefit from is a little more treatment on each sound

some shit i put together this weekend:

I put this really short really rough thing together today. Basically I'm looking for feedback on the bass and any suggestions on what to add to it. I'm looking to speed it up a bit, without changing tempo. I'm having trouble coming up with an energy boosting driving bass for it.
Soundcloud

Lightshapers - AWESOME! But...I want the rest of the track! haha! I really loved the vocals. They fit in nicely. (And her voice is so beautiful!)

nzym - filthy! The drums seem kind of flat, but that bass is sick as shit. I especially like the delay sound when you take out the sub bass. Personally, I would add a few ms to let it draw out more, but then you do run the risk of losing momentum. I do love that bass!

@burgaemon - nice work, like the intro, mix needs some work when it drops, quite a big difference in levels, that screechy lead needs to come up in the mix a lot more.

@daftendirekt - that sidechained synth when it drops could maybe come down a bit, it all gets very harsh/bright around 2.30, sounds like youre maybe boosting the high end quite a lot and it prob doesnt need it. arrangemnt etc is all good

@dougriley - liking the low end on this. very chunky. maybe try a bigger sounding snare? some more fx

@ryno - you could try making the hats/percussion a bit livelier if you want it to seem a bit quicker. maybe vary the kick pattern a bit more

Tune is finished, but I still have mixing issues, so tell me, what in your opinion doesn't sound right, cheers.

@Ryno
I think the intro should be a bit more "blurred", by it i mean more reverb, echo, delays and shit.
Bass is heavy. maybe change the the synth sound there to something else, but thats only my opinion.

@doug
cool intro. Nice percs. Im listening to it, and it's just okay, fine sound. Good, wobbly wobble;]

@Captain Carnage - I love the intro here. Really nice feel. Your drums need to come up 3-4dB in the mix. Way down there. I reckon your snare doesn't need as much reverb as it has. Your hats need to come up a little, and it'd be nice to have some more in there with a much shorter tail. The piano stabs on the snare need to come way down. They're distractingly loud. I like the over all feel of the track, and I know you only really want feedback on mixing, but I reckon your bass sound could be a lot more powerful. Also some other sounds in there would be nice, as well as a bit of variation. Looking forward to hearing what you do with this.

@Ryno - The melodic synth in the intro could do with a bit of modulation I think. Gets a touch repetitive, especially when it plays the same note a few times in a row. Maybe have a play around with velocity-sensitive parameters. I agree with @Captain Carnage about the hats and kick pattern. Aside from messing with the actual tempo, messing with the drums is the main thing you can do to change the pace of the tune. I reckon for the bass to be more driving and interesting, you could glitch it up a bit. Try bouncing the bass down to audio and just cutting and splicing. You can get some really awesome sounds like that. Love that rumbly bass though, looking forward to seeing where this goes :)

@dougriley - Loving this mate - I'm a massive fan of the old school vibe to this. I don't really have a lot of suggestions for this, I love it as is :) I do think your snare could be a little less in-your-face. A vocal sample would sound pretty cool in this too. Pretty much all the work needs to go into your percussion really. A few extra rim shot sounds here and there would do well to fill out the tune. Maybe you could mix up the kick/snare pattern in the second drop for a bit of variation. I get that you've changed up the bass sound there, but a change in pace would do nicely. Can't WAIT to hear this finished!

Here's my WIP. I've been working on this on/off since Friday and I've gotten a little stuck. Just feels a little empty. I'm not sure if you can hear it, but Soundcloud's transcoding process has added a weird rumble/distortion sound to parts of the tune. Try to get past it while I figure out a way to fix it. Before you ask, the tune peaks at -0.19dB. No redness here.

I already posted my 3 feedbacks for this track, and i've made minor changes so I assume I don't have to do 3 more. I made some minor changes.
I need y'all to tell me if I did a good job at self-mastering. If not, please give me some pointers to make adjustments.

@daftendirekt - Always nice to give feedback even if you feel like you don't need to :) I reckon it'd be nice to get a lot more bass in there to be honest. Sounds a little lacking. The limiting and compression you've applied seems to have don the trick dynamically. Sounding spot on mate. Mostly just an EQ job from here. I'd say a little cut at 30hz (as always), but boost between 40hz and 120hz. Also a small boost at 200hz will give that snare a nice extra bit of impact. Apart from that, this is done man. Really awesome job :)

@daftendirekt - Sounding pretty good on my end. I'd suggest boosting your sub even a touch more, but it might be worth waiting to see what the other DSFers think :)

@daftendirekt - Ah, I get that. Just to be safe, I'd boost the sub a little more. What are you mastering this on? Monitors or headphones?

@daftendirekt - Right, cool. How does the sub sound on your end? That's obviously the most important part - how it sounds to you.

To me I feel like the bass is at the loudest point it can be while still being comfortable to listen to. So for me its perfect.
