I usually don't make this kind of thing, but I'd like some feedback on it.

It's...Electro-House.
its not bad. but its kinda boring. ^^ in my opinion it would fit as a big interlude between two songs.

-TecksMusic
Yeah man im not really into that skrillex thing but yours is sounding pretty big, like well produced and all the sounds are like mixed well. The drop is a bit sudden so maybe like a riser or something just the to like make it more obvious its gunna drop if you get me, otherwise though its a good start to a tune.

-The Other Drug
Intro sounds nice :P I reckon maybe keep the sub out of the intro though just to give the drop more impact. The actual drop is fucking nice man, like the bass alongside that air raid horn sounds proper nice. Drums are big too, overall sounds nice man kinda fits in with that like Jakes or KLRGRM sound.

-BaasDNB
For the intro i reckon maybe change the drum samples cos theyre sounding a bit weak, or maybe just like compress them a bit or something to fatten them out. The drop sounds ncie too, that kinda reese sound is nice and suits the tune well. Drums are nice in the drop too, i like how they develop as the drop continues too. Overall i reckon its a good start man.

Heres my new tune, going for them darker vibes as usual ;)

@airfee I like what you have going here. try modulating the synth a little bit more in the beginning or adding some delay or something.

@budspencertron really trippy haha, try

@tecksmusic not enough sub, sounds really mainstream and generic if you ask me :/

Since I owe you guys feedback:

@AirFee:
I think some parts are a bit too long and you should work on your structure.
In the beginning you have that closed hihat sound, It has some rest points in there, I wouldn't do that with a hihat, I would also just start the choirstringy patch you are playing there and work with a cutoff and let it slightly come in until your beat starts. Also the attack of that patch is a bit too slow, which is fine on its own, but is not nice in timing when the beat comes in. In such a case I usually just drag everything slightly to the left. Your kick sound fits well and brings the right tension. I would fill the track with more instruments to give it some variation towards the end, just slightly build up.

@johnny666 That's a lot more my cup of tea, good work on the drumsound and, I think the synth sound in the beginning could use a bit more boost in the low frequencies (my guess is 800 hz, but that's a rough guess) it sounds just a little too thin (still really good). Nice track!

@The Other Drug, starts off nice but I expected a heavier kick and tighter snare, the atomic bomb idea and sirene are nice :)

@AirFee Not good with these style of songs. Drums are really nice, I think it needs more sub but other than that it's a nice song.

@BudSpencertron Intro needs a pad or some synth over it. Nice bass but I think it could do with some fattening up around the mids. The hats I think need to be quieter in the second drop. Good vocal work. Not a bad song there.

@Burgeamon Nice intro. Really nice drums. Loving the buildup. Yeah, I can definitely drop to this, this is awesome. Quite Rob Swire-esque. Only thing I can say is to maybe filter out the original track at times to stop it sounding unprofessional. Do something different with the outro, bitcrush it out or filter it or something. Brilliant bootleg. Love it.

Right, I'm sorry that this is house but the feedback here is good and don't know where else to go. Not sure about the volume of the bass and various other things.

@ The Other Drug -The air raid siren is awesome, though it gets a little tiring after a while, I like how it gets chopped up later though, maybe more modulation on the siren? Everything else sounds pretty sick.
@BaasDNB- I really like the drums and the ambient sounds, the bass is really hard to hear though, and would benefit from more variety I think, The intro is a little long, maybe introduce some more elements during the intro just to break it up some?
@airfree - It is certainly dark, really dig the vibes, the only thing that I'm not a fan of is occasionally the snare comes through too dry, though it seems intentional, maybe just shorten the tail on the reverb? (sounds like its just turned off)

As usual what I am posting is genreless, though I do have dubstep influences. I used an eastern scale in this track, which is something I don't usually do, but I really like how it turned out.
Let me know what you all think. I know I need to work on the transitions and I will more than likely add some builds in it to smooth out the transitions.

EDIT: made some changes based on feedback, and got some eqing done, should sound better now, Thanks for the input everyone who listened!

@jclarkeiv: Pretty weird style. I think it would benefit from a punchier snare, or just anything that cuts through slightly better. As you mentioned i think some builds here and there would serve it well, just to keep it moving forward and to break the sections up a bit. At some points i feel its all too cluttered, like at around 3:32 onwards for example. Maybe this is the style you're going for here but I think you could work on separating each instrument out a bit to give it some clarity. Sounds a little messy as it is. You must have a shit load of layers!

@Living_Tragedy: I'm always posting house in here as well haha, its all good. Could do with some more time on the intro it all builds a bit too suddenly for me. I like the pads you use, perhaps add some groovey hats in at around .28 to build with it instead of just going right in to the drop like you do. Also the placing of the drop sounds a bit weird, it sounds like you drop on the off beat or half way through the bar or something? Maybe its just me. Once its in its nice. Some pretty nice side-chaining. The timing seems really weird in this track, like you change sections at what seems like half way through the bar, like at 1.30 for example. If i was mixing this in a set it would throw me off completely. I really like the change up for the second drop, maybe at the brief break at 2:45 you could re-introduce the pad from before for just a split second, then cut it out again for the next bar. The timing sounds better from the second drop onwards, maybe its the melody you were playing earlier that threw me off i dont know.

@difference: You should experiment with panning for the intro percussion, i think it would add a nice touch. Again this drops too suddenly i think, focus on building up to the drop, it will make it much more hard-hitting when it does come. Very nice change up at 1:08. Think i prefer it with just the sub to when that mid bass comes in at 1:16. Personally i'd make the mid bass more subtle and less overpowering.

@AirFee: Very nice this one. Sounds like you got everything down to be honest. I'm glad you introduced the slightly higher growl half way through, definitely adds to it. What's that weird vocally sample you're using, if it is vocals? Sounds like its off saw or something.

Here's mine, weird housey sort of vibes. Went for something a bit different to usual. Was kind of influenced by Scuba -the hope, atleast that's what i was listening to before i decided to make it. Hows the mixing sound? Is the kick/sub too loud? I wanted it to kick through as much as possible and really give it "oomph" but not sure if it is too overpowering. Thanks.

@ Stranger Sounds,
Hi Stranger Sounds,
on your tune "Back When", I think the kick drum is just a bit too present in the mix. I really feel like a lot of the other sounds are buried in the texture because the kick is so overpowering. Ask yourself this, is the kick drum really my main voice here?

for your song "Anguish", I think everything sounds fine, but the song is really repetitive and has no elements that really push it forward. Introducing additional samples every 8 bars and creatively filtering sounds in and out of the texture could make this tune really cool.

@jclarkeiv
Hi,
after listening to your song, I don't have specific comments to make about it. What advice I do have is this: spend lots of time LISTENING to your favorite albums on YOUR speaker setup, and then PRACTICE sound design and mixing. Try to match the sound quality of what you hear. I say this because I think you have lots of good ideas, but your mixing is not allowing those ideas to shine.

@difference
Hi,
after listening to "Slotta", I'll make the most obvious comment I can: that bass sound becomes incredibly stale after the first measure of hearing it. The whole song is lacking any emotional content at all and doesn't have anything necessarily captivating. Continue studying mixing and listening to your favorite artists and trying to match the quality of their music.

@Living Tragedy
Hi,
just listened to your progressive house track and it sounds banging man.

This is a tune I'm working on. I'm still working on achieving a fuller mix.. but I think this is a good start :W:

@difference: the biggest problem for me in this is that the snare is way too flat sounding. I dont know if its just that you are hitting your limiter too hard or if its in the buss compression, but try layering a more transient sound on with the snare with no compression on it. I like rim shots for this purpose. mix in at low volume to bring impact back to the snare. also, the mid rangey bass sticks out a little too much for as basic as the sound is, for my taste

@airfee: i really like where this one is going. the high hat groove and ornamentation is fantastic. mix sounds great too. the only thing lacking for me at this stage is the drum intro seems a little predictable, and the sounds are kind thin in isolation....maybe automate some saturation or something in for this section to beef it up a tad?

@strangersounds: listening at low volume, the bass comes thru nice and loud, in a compelling way. there is some clipping sounding harshness coming from the snare, only seems to happen on some transients, limiting too much maybe? or lengthen the compressors attack a tad to smooth those out maybe? not really my style, but aside from that, the mix and arrangement sound pretty spot on

mine is still in kinda a rough state, still need to do lots of automation and tweak/expand the melodic parts, but im pretty happy with the foundation. maybe a little Scorn-ish

Hey yall,

left some feedback on some other random tunes. Hope yall can help me with my WIP here. I'm afraid to really get into mixing/mastering of it but there are some specific directions I really wanna go. I have been having some issues with mixing of my tracks lately, maybe you all could offer some tips on some mixer plugins for different synths/drums. I usually used ableton but I made this with fruity for kicks.

Thanks!

this thread is going to turn to shit if no one leaves feedback ^^^^

@knobgoblin: yehh i think the snare is a tad over-compressed, will sort that out thanks. For your track, at 1:31 some of the sounds feel a bit clattered. Maybe there's a bit too much percussion going on, and i'd like to hear the low mid-bass cut through a bit better. Definitely needs a bit of time spent on the transitions but its a pretty good base so far.

I'm only going to critique people's tracks if they left 3 pieces of feedback in that same post, if not cry more, it's your fault.

@ knobgoblin - Build up is pretty cool, interesting sounds, I like it a lot, not to fond of the piano sounds sitting in the back there though. Definitely sounds like the mix could use some freshening up, but you mentioned as such in your post so I'm sure that will come in time. Might want to add some punch to your kick though, it gets kind of lost back there sometimes. Interesting track man, lot of potential.

@ Mystix - Try and clean up the synths sounds a little, they are overlapping and drowing each other a little bit. Percussion in general are a bit quiet, could bring them to the front a bit to give the track a fuller sound, perhaps some reverb on it all (even the kick) to fill up some frequencies.

@ stranger_sounds - Sounds nice man, kick sounds fine to me as far as what I know of house. I'd turn the clicks up just a tad, some of them sound like pops and not intentional. Might consider some subtle risers/white noise to pull you through the track a bit. Nothing too prominent, just something to add a bit of tension as it starts to drag a bit. Aside from that I don't hear a whole lot wrong, neat track.

@ jclarkeiv - Ill track. Kick sounds a bit weak in the mix and the bass a bit heavy, but other than that I don't really hear too much wrong. Keep going with the weird shit. =p

@ Living_Tragedy - Nice track, good production nothing to critique on this from me. :>

@ difference - Bass sounds a bit loud compared to the other sounds in your track, ill track though man, interesting sounds.

My newest work in progress, quite please with the sound. I do want to know how the mix sounds to people who may have a sharper ear than I, particularly with the side-chaining. My first real attempt at side-chaining the sub and I THINK I did a good job, but I'm not positive. It's quite bare and minimal right now, so yes I do realize that. =p I plan to build up some percussion and synths around it in due time.

@knobgoblin - Love the percussion in this track. my ears are tired right now but the mix sounds clean and crisp! great track!

@alpz - the side-chaining sounds very nice to me! such a deep track man you have the foundation for something big.

@stranger_sounds - fucking loving this tune man. percussion is fantastic and great use of the vocal sample. great rhythm man!

It's brostep :/ but i'm mostly interested in critique of the mix and how everything sits together. I feel like it's my best work yet!
