yeah but you reckon i should be blaggy and apologetic? or just ask what to do

the blaggy bit i got so far is...
The practical part of my project however really didn't go that well. I have recordings from the Sub 37 and the Volca bass but my friends Sub 37 cut off filter was broke so the audible difference in oscillators is quite hard to distinguish. Also, the university didn't have the MicroBrute so I have no recordings from that. My friend now lives in London too, so I can't really get any more samples from him.

As this didn't go so well I thought of maybe trying to emulate analogue sounding oscillators in Max MSP to add a practical part to my project. Do you think this would be a good route to go at this stage?

I understand that I should of asked all of this a lot earlier in the year, I've just had a bit of hectic year (which is no excuse) and now the pressure of the timescale I have is really worrying me. I had planned to leave or defer after christmas to start an apprenticeship in March so my work ethic around that time was not at its best. That fell through however and I now really want to make the most of the 3 years I've spent on this course and try to do the best I can.

If I can outline the problems I came into and explain why my project went more into the research area, can I still get an OK mark? I would really like to get at least a 2:2 in my dissertation as this will allow me to come out with a 2:1 overall which is what I want as all my other modules have gone so well.

I have no more coursework due now so I aim to be in uni 8 hours a day to get it finished and up to a standard I'm happy with.

If you have any advice that would be great.

Thank you,

sounds alright i guess. depends on whether your professor is a tnuc or not

what's your subject? or do you have to do something practical?

Don't make excuses, no one wants to hear someone whining about how life is hard for them. Be as disarming, polite and highlight your genuine need. Something like this might help mate:

The practical part of my project didn't go too well if I'm honest. I have recordings from the Sub 37 and the Volca bass, the Sub 37 cut off filter wasn't functioning and so the audible difference in oscillators is quite hard to distinguish. I have also struggled to get access to the MicroBrute so I have no recordings from that.

I thought, maybe trying to emulate analogue sounding oscillators in Max MSP could be sufficient to add a practical part to my project. Do you think this would be a good route to go at this stage? I'm a bit lost on the next step!

I understand that I should have asked all of this a lot earlier in the year and the pressure of the deadline I have to meet is really worrying me. Honestly, I had planned to leave or defer after christmas to start an apprenticeship in March so my work ethic around that time was not at its best. However now I really want to make the most of the 3 years I've spent on this course and genuinely achieve something at the end.

If I can outline the obstacles I came up against and explain why my project went more into research as opposed to practical, can I still get a decent grade? I'm genuinely aiming for a 2:2 in my dissertation as this will allow me to come out with a 2:1 overall!

I have the time and the drive to get this work done, and get it done well, but I'm a little flustered and what I should focus on and how to best approach the remainder of the dissertation.

If you have any advice that would be great.

Thank you,

if only there was some form of interactive resource where if you had a question you could search for an answer and almost instantly find it

but to my knowledge no such resource exists.

hehe u so cheeky

nah i've read about it quite a bit but I still can't really grasp exactly what it means. like I couldn't point to someone i know in real life and be like "oh he/she is histrionic". maybe you have a (recent) example from film/pop culture? i know gone with the wind is the archetypal example but i haven't seen it.

also the fact that it's almost always applied to woman makes me question its validity. like if flirting or using sex to manipulate someone wasn't a thing that existed in the world, would the concept of histrionicness still exist?
