The quality of the ads on my blog just stepped up to the next level. I don't know why that is. Full glossy motion from companies that are directly related to what I'm writing about.

Think I'm right at about $60. Was going to save it up for Maschine, now, I MIGHT pick up ni's razor. For nonbro purposes that synth sounds kind of sick. I'm a bit beat on subtractive, but know it like the back of my hand. FM is like maths, not happening in a controlled way when I'm grooving. But Razor's subtractive interface over an additive engine is pretty smart, and effective apparently. I really might just go that way.

Should set up a poll. Get Razor now, or save up for maschine?

How about you stop bragging about all your cool money, you prick?

kidding, but i'd save for the maschine, mostly because i dont have one and im thinking about just going ahead and buying one

Serious moneys up in this bitch! jokes, are we all not at around the same place?
---

See maschine as like a major thing. It is going to take a while to learn, and maybe not the fun kind of learning. The thing itself is a workflow changer.

But then Razor is light and breezy, and is just a sound design thing. I'd like to reach for a synth and pretty quickly get to new sonic territory. But it could slot into current workflow right now.

Is it kind of fucked up that I'm debating between two different ni purchases? Fucking people are legit.

hmm kinda sounds like you've already made up your mind... depends on if you want instant gratification to expand your sound or if you want a game changer like maschine... either way it won't be a bad buy, hell you can probably get both after awhile...

and yeah i think i'm getting up there in profits, haven't checked in awhile but probably not at $60 yet

I really haven't made up my mind. I just listened to every preset on razor today, and a lot of the patches had really weird shit going on within them. Honestly stuff I've never heard out of a synth. Not saying that I'm into the presets themselves, though there are some that I could use right out of the box and could write a song around.

And its cheap.

And then on Maschine, with my current set up, I've got a padkontrol and the FPC, or Battery, and I can sample and resample with ease in a big visual audio editor and drag and drop audio at will, and no shortage of samples, synths, and fx to choose from. There was a time recently, I just couldn't sit at the computer staring at the screen to make music anymore. I started picking up some cheap hardware. But right now, the evil trinity of the computer, the monitor and the mouse are not such a big problem for me. Maybe I was kinda burned out before?

So bottom line, I'm worried maschine will be somewhat redundant to my current workflow, or if not totally redundant, may not add that much value, maybe not $600 worth of value? If I really could just work with the maschine box, have all my vst's, and not look at the computer screen, I might...

Am writing a long and winding blog post thinking about the maschine. This one is stumping me right now.

Lack of time has prevented me from doing much with my blog recently. But I've been opening my blog bookmarks every day so everyone's getting impressions from me at the very least.
