They sent a letter saying stuff about the case and all this other garbage and basically we were fucked. Talked to this new lawyer and said it was bullshit for them to send this letter since they knew this information back in 2001 which is good when we go appeal for it and it was just looking bad till my mom found this act about people coming over and setting up business between 1998 and 2001 and if had your case messed up due to the back clog in 2001 due to 9/11 you can reapply for a greencard and all this other legality stuff.
Dont know too much on the details since my parents are hush hush and want me to focus on finishing last year in highschool right now and not worry about this.
Big up the south African crew, how old are you btw?

17 right now and 18 in January. WIsh all the stuff would be sorted out already so I can drive. Lawyer said something could happen in 2 months and in January can go and get my license right away and hopefully get a car. Sounds pretty stupid but might take out a 10k loan to buy a Nissan Skyline r32 to be imported, its a good deal for me because thats the only car I have ever wanted and will drive or keep it for the rest of my life. Milage on it will be super low for car being 25 years old(under 100k miles) and dad was a mechanic so maintaining it will be pretty easy.

Yesterday at Mala I decided to start a new tradition where for my favorite artists, I write down tunes that I recognize during the set on the notes app on my phone so that i can look back after a few months and be like "oh yeah that time mala dropped mere sher"
So I started this last night and I'm too lazy to upload a screenshot but I wanted to share this with DSF so here's what I wrote down:
Kromestar - pass the light
Justice dub
Spry
Spry remix
Weh dem a do remix (i think someone said Truth

)
Free focus remix
Fuck mountain
Abattoir
Over de soh
Lean forwawrd
Mere sher
Cays crays remix
Bukez finezt - under control
Compa - dem a talk
Spongebob
Anti war dub
Dry cry
Coki - on board
Round the world girls
Eyez VIP
Tron Kromestar remix
Goth trad - anti grid
Skeng
Alicia
Bob marley - is this love that i'm feelin
There were many tunes I didn't know, these were just the ones I recognized, so it wasn't in this exact order. Well it was in this order, just with other tunes inbetween.
Oh yeah and part of the reason i wanted to post this is to say that I think based on playing these tunes out, I think many of the dubs might be forthcoming medi (Kaiju, Spry remix, Abattoir, Over de Soh)

Ahh fair enough, just a few months older than me then.
10k for your first car sounds mad lol, insurance would probably be a bitch unless you're extremely well off or insurance isn't required in America?

Im guessing hes importing it from japanese dockyards, so in reality ten g's isnt alot, especially considering you could flip it immediately for a decent profit then just import another with said profits.

so you started a new tradition where instead of fully embracing your favourite artist's performance, soaking up the experience and losing yourself within the sound you'd rather look at your phone for a solid 30% of the night, distracting not only yourself, but also your fellow punters.
yeah enjoy that one.

Tbf, if fellow punters find me more interesting than the act we've paid to watch then they should get the fuck out imo.

jeez some people just have awful attitudes about everything.
you write down one word every 3 minutes that's maybe 2% of the time at most, and that doesn't distract anyone around me. it's not like it's pitch black in the club, plus if i turn the brightness all the way down (and i do), it's not noticeable at all. i see plenty of other people on their phones (much brighter than mine) at various times throughout nights and it doesn't bother me one bit.
and i was absolutely able to fully embrace the performance, who are you to tell me that I didn't fully soak up the experience? I remember skanking the fuck out during Anti War Dub and during Free Focus remix as well. I just wanted to remember it more than i otherwise would have. looking back at the list has jogged my memory and i remember much more of the night and probably will remember more after several months have passed compared to other great nights I've been to.
Overall I'm really happy about it!

what can I say, good for you.
I think phones can kill the vibe of a night straight up. nothing wrong with having a quick look to see if your mate msgd you back, but people who use their phone every two minutes are a bit of a downer, especially when the room is pretty much blacked out. maybe I'm just an overreacting twat but I feel genuinely bothered by those.
rickyarbino wrote:Tbf, if fellow punters find me more interesting than the act we've paid to watch then they should get the fuck out imo.
missing the point.
I don't. and that's why I don't want them to light up the place with their fucking flashlights.

I think you're overreacting tbh, don't get how you could give that much of a fuck about what someone else is doing tbh, they're not hurting anyone. Seems like projection to me.
Couldn't imagine walking out of a night and being like "Would've been good if people weren't on their phones and listened up". It even sounds hypocritical.

i dunno about the phones or the clubs in switzerland but my phone can get pretty damn dim to the point where it's not noticeable in a dimly lit club. and the clubs i've been to are never pitch black, so i guess if the clubs you go to are, i can see why phones would bother you, but really it's not much of a problem in my experiences

Can I use my phone or post on dsf if I'm hearing music at home?

idk. just a ton of people constantly on their phone in clubs and I have a hard time understanding why.
if your girl's messages are so fucking important maybe you should've stayed with her tonight instead of coming to the club etc. why someone would take pictures with flash is also beyond me.
I made a couple of vids at outlook (and probably the odd club night) aswell, I'm not hating on cellphones or taking pictures, just... be decent and moderate with it.
I went a bit hard with the cynicism though, sorry for that.

Im going with writing down who played what track when is alittle weird. I mean what are you going to do with that? say "hm yeh was good"?
Free planet tho, if you get a kick out of doing that every 3-5mins for 6 hours of a night more power to you

I would rather see more people actually enjoy the music and the club as well.
To each their own of course, I don't understand why the phone is that tempting though.
When I used to go to bars with shitty music I'd be on my phone half the time too, but in a
nice club with friends I barely even touch the thing. I would never go on DSF on my phone for example.

Phones kill the vibe.
You can compare it to people checking texts at the movie theater. You're really into the movie and get distracted by people below you texting, checking fb etc. Same goes for the club.
