Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Gday all,
@burnz - Very cool idea, not my style but I really quite enjoyed it. I understand that it is a wip, but there are some seriously high frequencies in the snare and some of the synths that need to be rolled of or at least toned down in my personal opinion. I'm also not completely sure if it's me or the effect you were going for, but it sounds like the sample is clipping a little, as if it were to loud. Apart from that, really cool track, where is the sample from? I've been wanting to know since I saw the first Jackass movie!
@ill mindset - Quite a cool track, I was impressed with the horns (I think this is what they are?) and how they didn't sound very synthy, fairly realistic, nice work there. I would recommend slightly rolling of that snare above about ~10k, at loud volumes it was fairly fatiguing to the ears.
@BudSpencertron - Wow, this is sick mate, this reminded me of James Blake and Burial if they did a collab. Very very cool, keep up the great work.
@Bola - Cool track, I need more music like this in my life. I think you're right about the mix down, I think it's quite ok, but as I've said to many people previously, it's good to have a lot of high frequencies, as long as they are not ear piercing. Depending on samples and volume levels, as a general rule I try and roll off high frequencies above about 10k before I go turning down volumes. As I said though, sick track and keep it up.
@ArrenMog - Tune, I'm not a strictly dungeon bloke, but this is good, I really enjoyed it. There is some fine tuning to be done with the sub and kick's EQ, but apart from that, sick tune.
@mthrfnk - Nice one, I can enjoy house music when I'm in the mood. I'm not a huge fan of the vocals, but it is done very very well and I definitely appreciate good mix down. Very well done and keep it up.
I know I talk alot about EQ'ing high frequencies, and I'm by no means a professional at all, I'm just telling it like I hear it so please don't take it the wrong way.
I haven't posted here for a while, and haven't done any music for a good few months, so I thought I would remake a track I did about a year ago and see how I went. The original has the same name and is still on my sound cloud if anyone is interested.
Soundcloud
Now for some reason, when I uploaded this to sound cloud some of the sounds changed, some of the hi hats and cymbals sound very electronic, and the bass has some clicks in it. When I play the straight wav, or directly out of Albeton it sounds fine, wierd.
But as always, feedback in anyway is appreciated, and I have followed everyone I commented on on Sound cloud.
Peace!

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@lowphat Thanks for the comments and the tip. The intro is a symphonic multi instrument. A cello and something else, I forget. The horns were sampled from a live symphony as well. I wanted to go for a movie trailer score type feel.
I dig your track. Very chilled vibe. I dont really have any suggestions for you. Nice work. Good dynamics in the track. No loudness war goin on over here.

thanks for the tip wasnt a sample yeah kinda sample just played my guitar into my headset and recorded it but i see your point for me it was like close enough and i somehow felt the abrupt transitionKongret wrote:@BudSpencertron
I think that moog style lead needs some saturation/light distortion, too clean for that tune imho. I really like the intro sample, but the part which comes after seems like something from a completely different tune, maybe you should use the whole/parts of sample a few more times throughout the intro.
so you would like a more lofi raw vibe for that tune?

Just a quick post to say thanks to everyone who gave me feedback since I seemed to get a lot on my last track, I'll definitely take your comments on board.
When I get some time tonight I'll try to return some of the feedback.

@ lowphat
Comment as I listen:
Wow the intro was awesome. I really felt it!
Between 1.21 and 2.52 it gets abit monotonic. Nice break though. Love your slow parts they are so nice!!
The outro is good as well. I'd just try adding something more between 1.21 and 2.52.
@ ill mindset
I thought your song was cool. I'd say it need some mixing cos sounds like lots of sounds are clashing into eachother.
I dig the "skeleton rattles". They sound spooky and nice.
the metal things are quite cool tho.. but they might need some cleaning as well. my 5 cents

Here is a song I've been working on (it is a progressive house song ) and I REALLY need feedback of what you think of it this far. ANYTHING really is welcome to be commented on.
it is the first part of the song. It is about tripple long. No mixing done yet..

I personally think that you should use your guitar a bit more

@Ada love the track! Its a super feel good tune!: )
Me and a friend have been working a couple of houres on this, feel kinda finished with the arranging part. But we are quite stuck at mixing. never mixed this type of music before.
Could anyone throw us some tips? what to turn down, what to turn up? and some effects that could be cool to put in

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Hiho guys, this is my first post in this forum.
Currently I'm working on my first dubstep(ish) track (in general I produce other electronic music), and I need some comments on it. So far I don't like the subbass much, cannot explain it... in general I would like to have it more growling or something like that, to have a darker sounding.
There are some parts I need to edit, the middlepart too and blabla, but please maybe you can give some tips, thanks in advance.

Okay as promised here is my feedback for other people:
@UVOZ Not sure about the intro man, it seems way too empty and a bit off imo. Maybe add a few subtle pads? The build to the drop is also a bit lacking, there's no tension it's just "no bass >> bass". I'd also work on your basses, try getting some nice stereo field and more variation.
@Fobicafa Please give feedback to 3 other people first, as in the rules of this thread.
Your track sounds good though.
@Udyret Liking the intro, nice powerful synth. The drums and piano accent well. Then panned hats a re little obvious, maybe turn down a notch but thats just em being picky. The progression is good, but I'd like to have heard the actual drop much earlier (1:20 seems a bit late for a dubstep track). In terms of mic, the kick and snare need to be louder - the snare needs t oreally slam, then this track would sound pro. One side note - try and change the yah/yoi bass - it's sounds a bit out of place (an it's way overused
)
@Udyret Like the chords, like the synth and sidechaining - but try and get some more stereo width in the lead chords on the intro. I like what you've done here, the mix sounds good too. The sample would be good for a breakdown - finish it up man.
@lowphat Nice deep stuff, not usually too good on giving feedback on this sort of stuff but here goes: perc is good as are the samples. The bass is nice as are the stabs but overall it's a little repetitive, perhaps some more variation in perc could help?
@Kongret Some good ideas, but it seems a little too rough atm. Try and tighten up the mix and bring the drums up a little. There's nice energy in this and the synths are sounding good - just needs polishing off.
@Kongret Intro: full marks, fucking nice. Really nice man, chilled synths, and the perc is good. I think maybe some female vocal ooh/ahh's stretched out might add even more ambience. Also maybe some more offbeat crunches or clicks panned around? This is really good, honestly well done
Out of interest what BPM is this?
Here's a track I spent the last few hours cooking up, yet more (club) house
, I know the perc is a bit off atm but any feedback relating to the mix/melodies/synths would be good - also crowd noise or no crowd noise?

mthrfnk: I love the intro, I say keep the crowd for sure! The melody is excellent, maybe it's because I'm a beginner, but I can't find a single thing to complain about. Keep up the great work! I also liked your other tune "Show Me Why" really digging what you're doing

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
cheezitzplz: a little eq wouldnt hurt, the highs are a bit too bright imo. nice vox sample. good suspense on the build, filthy modulation on the drop. leave some feedback on these other tunes man.
Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@CrewCutz Feels quite disjointed man, if that's the kind of vibe you want then that's cool, but I feel like it could use some pads, hats, more melody development and other melody's layered together
@Zonetrooper5 Liking the pad filled intro, but those drums sound a bit weak in the intro and I feel like some of the pads could be EQ'd apart and compressed together a bit more, with giving the drums more punch and bringing 'em up a bit. Loved the drum rhythm and the chilled out, fast paced groove once it picked up though!
@Cheezitplz Not really sure what else too say man, sounds like a really well produced track, was much better than I expected too hear from someone begging for feedback without reading the rules and a december 2011 join date! haha, dope man
Here's one I've posted on here a few times already, I feel like I've improved the mix a lot as well as a few little variations in melody etc and feel like it might almost be done! Please be critical with the mix etc (Also, state what you're listening through!) as I wanna get an accurate rep of what this sounds like!
