Watched parts 1 & 2 of this last night, quality stuff
Re: Secret Ninja Movie Club (aka what have you watched latel
Was very good fun if a bit dumb. John Candy probably saves the film from mediocrity. Smith seems to have lost his touch with dialogue, it hasn't got the same panache as Chasing Amy or clerks. He's still very capable of doing long scenes of dialogue - but it's not quite as clever... although htat could be because I loathe bible bashing right wingers.

Typical sombre, almost depressing british film - good though. Bitter sweet sort of film.

Dark City. Pretty unimpressive imo. Some ok shots, but for the most part the acting was horrible, edits were sloppy, storytelling was just barely there.

Fail Safe (1964)

The serious version of Dr. Strangelove. Thick with tension and a reminder of what it was like to live under the constant threat of mutually assured destruction. Not one for a light-hearted evening in with the mrs. Stellar performance from Henry Fonda but, for me, the show is stolen by Walter Matthau because i'm used to him playing a jowl-faced old git and not a professor trying to convince the government to start ww3.
This film serves as an excellent reminder as to how close the human race came to total annihilation....

Definitely seems more of a cult classic than "hidden gem" for me. But, now ive seen it.pikeymobile wrote:aka one of the best sci fi films ever madespire wrote:Dark City. Pretty unimpressive imo. An intriguing beginning, an interesting ending, but not a lot in between besides dull characters plodding their way through a dull storyline. In short: good ideas, poorly executed.

Re: Secret Ninja Movie Club (aka what have you watched latel

Fairly generic Jason Statham film. Too many tortured soul style flashbacks.
Re: Secret Ninja Movie Club (aka what have you watched latel

Such a good film. Cinematography was stunning, a great storyline that sucked you in, and something a bit different from the usual crappy plots around at the moment. It left me feeling really sad though
Re: Secret Ninja Movie Club (aka what have you watched latel

Had some moments of brilliance, but was far too long and drawn out.
Re: Secret Ninja Movie Club (aka what have you watched latel
^yea agree with you on that, worth a watch tho...

i loved it, simply because the ideas and concepts behind this are true to life.
But at the same time its still an enjoyable watch!
