Such a good film. Cinematography was stunning, a great storyline that sucked you in, and something a bit different from the usual crappy plots around at the moment. It left me feeling really sad though
Anyone have suggestions for movies like this or Pan's Labyrinth? I love the whole fairy tale aspect to these movies
Other Guillermo del Toro films.
City of lost children

Went on a horror binge with the girl for halloween. Wanted to support my local store so I randomly grabbed stuff off the shelf, so no underground avant-garde type business.
Rewatched the 1st resident evil, still love that movie, still hate every one after it.
Trick r treat - Had the freshest tomatoes of all the ones I rented but was definitely the worst, not what I expected. Had a bit of humor to it though, meant for younger audiences I guess.
Silent Hill - I thought the animation was really good for its time. Never played the games all the way through (unfortunately), but it seemed to capture the mood somewhat accurately. I rather enjoyed it.
Vacancy - Luke Wilson and beckinsale absolutely deliver. Everything you want out of a horror flick.
Other shit I recommend:

Indian, but no bollywood here. You need to see this. Beautiful film. It has that same magic of seeing Spielberg when you were a kid.

Great addition to your collection of gritty action movies from asia.

Was a bit disappointed with this one. The whole film was a bit too cheesy and the whole time watching it I was thinking "I wish Scorsese directed this". The soundtrack let it down the most (cheesy 80's music in a 1920's cop film, really?) and De Niro was pretty poor in it. But it was still decent I suppose.

On the other hand The French Connection was brilliant and is now second to La Confidential as my favourite cop film. The car/train chase was better than I had expected.
And finally....

A must see film imo, I've never heard such smooth dialogue before. The acting and plot was all on point, great cast as well.

Watching Life in a Day. It's on BBC2 atm, but it was a free film that came about when people from all over the world took part in a youtube collaboration and filmed their life in a day. Such a fucking beautiful thing.

Surprisingly, this was really good. Romero has included a lot of social commentary as per his earlier releases (original Dead trilogy), this time focussing on the prevalance of social networking and user defined content media. Inventive deaths, not too over the top in terms of SHOCK moments, subtle ominousity about things, and a couple of sound set pieces. Recommended for zombie heads.
watched it last night, wasn't bad
