I wasn't picking sides. Nor was I ignoring anywhere else. I love southern rap. Just out of that old east coast vs west coast argument it seems there's more on the east that I like.

Utterly irrelevant. I can't believe people are still talking about a 1994 Death Row marketing campaign in 2012.
it comes down to more than just a marketing campaign; come on now. its a difference in style.

i dont take the debate too seriously, but where has the east been? maybe im just bitter and just miss the music from my childhood

They were both all too willing to get themselves embroiled, but East Coast/West Coast was only a thing because it pushed records, made loyal fans and sold-out shows. What proves your gangster tunes are authentic better than corporate beef overflowing into rants about "Executive Producers aawwwwlll up in the video, dancin'..." at The Source awards, a couple of handguns pulled and a few scuffles here and there?

Just a shame it went too far really. I'm fairly sure Pac and Biggie knew the risks they were taking though.

wolf - was more directed at a couple more committed posts than yours!

That's why I specifically said "pattern to the quality" and not "pattern to the sound". Of course there's a different sound, it was all pre-Internet, so it's a whole different crop of producers, influences and localised scenes. The idea that one was better than the other and we had to "pick" rather than that them just offering everyone more choice is the marketing campaign.

Beatles Vs The Rolling Stones for the 90s.

tupac was the lil wayne of the 90s
fully agree.

people seem to put him (and biggie) on a fucking pedestal.... no idea why, they were both average.
:a: biggie was the truth & miles better than tupac
better, but no Big L
well big L is probably top 5, maybe 3 all time

I can understand it being a bit full on for people but how does this sound like a joke?
