joker album
Re: joker album
Haha nah mate, the forum automatically sensors the N word and replaces it with successful black men hahahahaha
And yeah fuck that review, the album's amazing. Already my second favourite dubstep full-length of the year after Colourful Vibrations

Re: joker album
I think the album is fiyah! Love listening to it, just waiting for the instrumentals to play out, any word on trancy (sherbet face), taste the rainbow, or Saturn? Some of my favorite tunes that haven't been released yet, would send a blank check over to joker to get my hands on those
"Dying Is Easy, Living is What Scares Me."

Re: joker album
the only thing that i really dislike is the Silas vocal on "Slaughter House," the original instrumental was great on it's own.
I honestly think FACT's review would have been very different without the non-grime vocals on the album. Silas and Jessie Ware give off the impression of it trying to be "pop," but really the production is still top notch and fun to my ears. Can anyone really argue against Joker's production? Look at "Back In The Days" or "Lost," those are fucking epic rhythms.... "Back In The Days" is probably the freshest production all year. And it's fucking catchy as hell.
Plus, ya know.... "My Trance Girl" is mind bogglingly good...even 2 years after it's appearance at Sonar.

Yeah mate, fuck em... Truth is that you are still the one out there who is doing the best synth-heavy dubstep. Love all of the tracks, and the new music video is the best i have seen from this scene. When are you putting trancey out for download? Need it by tomorrow nightjokerkhk wrote:FUCK fact they can eat my black dick successful black men dont know shit

Re: joker album
i can see where they're coming from with slaughterhouse. sorry joker but tune is GASH. and i'm not feeling some of the other vocals but apart from that i thought it was pretty solid, love Milky Way, the sonic Interlude, The Magic Causeway, Lost, Back In The Days. My Trance Girl sounds pretty sick and I never really got into Tron, but it is what it is.
I think 3/5 would have been a more fitting review.

Re: joker album
I disagree, I've been fucking loving Slaughterhouse. The instrumental should be pretty kickass as well.
And +1 on Back In the Days. Possibly tune of the year.

I signed up especially to this forum just to say that Joker, it's a really good album. I'm thoroughly enjoying it and I have to admit the first listen, I had a few tunes I like, but I have given it 3-5 full listens now and like it alot more. It's a grower.
Great work. Hopefully more to come.

Pitchfork's review is even bitchier: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/16003-the-vision/
I can't claim to have listened to the album yet, but for FACT to call My Trance Girl "purple-by-numbers" is downright insulting.

Andrew Gaerig comes across as a bit of a twat in his reviews so I wouldn't pay it any heed

Re: joker album
Some good tunes on the album, music has always been open to interpretation though, if you don't like it, each to their own.

Re: joker album
Yeah, I mean, it's just their opinion... whether that be just the writer or the magazine staff as a whole. I can't say that I agree with it, because you can't really deny how big some of these tunes are. Not to mention that Joker is putting out very original sounds and carving a new path for dubstep as we know it. And I agree with whoever said that the review would be quite a bit different had they listened to the instrumentals alone. It's just what we're used to hearing from Joker, so putting vocals over top might be too much of a change for some listeners. In terms of 'The Vision' track with Jessie Ware, I wasn't as fond of the vocal version until I heard the edit with Freddie Gibbs on the track too... I think he really adds to some flavor to the track (even though on the version I'm hearing, his part sounds a bit muddy).
All in all though, I am a big fan of the release. Some instant classics and also shedding light on some other talented artists in the collabs. Extremely excited to hear that you're already working on another release, Joker. Hopefully not as much of a wait on this one
And as many others have been asking, what's good on the "Trancey", "Saturn", and "Taste The Rainbow" releases?

Re: joker album
screw pitchfork and Fact, they don't even know what they're talking about. Album of the year.
Just got my vinyl today, real nice. Cool that it lists all the synths used for each song.

Re: joker album
If people hate on it, fuck em.. you deserve your status as a successful black man because of your great tunes.
I'm going to start using the words successful black man a lot, that 'l get well confusing.

Re: joker album
the pitchfork review is just written terribly. i stopped reading once he made the claim that joker's sound was somehow an "end game" and "(post)." writter needs to get a clue.
and I do appreciate the instrumentals coming out.
the vocals are great from time to time, but in the dance with MCs going the instrumentals are nice to have.

Re: joker album
Place I was at last night played the instrumental of The Vision, unfortunately the sound wasn't that great but it still creates a great vibe. Something a found funny was that the bit where Jessie Ware normally sings 'SLOOOOOOWW DOOOWWWWN' is completely silent in the instrumental and everyone in the room kind of awkwardly stopped moving and looked at each other haha.
On a side note, I was there to see The Others play and I was kinda disappointed. Mostly all identical sounding brostep with the exception of some tunes like Xmas Day Banger, Crunked Up and a 30 second tease of Gangsta For Life. At one point I asked him if there was any chance he'd play Africa VIP, Titania or Shadow and he just smiled at me like he was happy that there was at least one person in the room who knew those tunes, but he never played them...
Oh and I just copped my CD of The Vision, love it even more now
