Y'all knew that Killing Sheep called it quits for the time being?

Killing Sheep Records was a dark Drum & Bass label from Newcastle / Melbourne Australia, 13 vinyl records, three CD's, retired indefinitely 2012.

That's the best drum & bass label throwing the towell right thurr.

I saw it coming, dude running it seemed pretty frustrated with dealing with it from the bits and bops I picked up. Though there were talks about another Facs/Fon release this year. Hopefully it'll get release on Biotic now, who seem to be becoming active again.

Quite a lot of crap, some gems, maybe not as good as last year though.

Outside Agency, FFF, Broken Note, Loftgroover, Current Value & Remarc, Stay Up Forever showcase, Calyx & Teebee, LTJ Bukem, Culprate, Slipmatt, The Sect, Parasite, Scamp, Junglefever, Ed Cox & Stivs

The Outside Agency shoulda been among the top headliners. Aren't they huge over there? Could also be an NL thing but they're the biggest thing in underground hardcore. Maybe I'd even count them among the biggest thing in Dutch dnb.

Are you tryna say that Remarc and Current Value will be doing a set together? No right?

Anyway, I'll try to check this out if I can. Pretty varied line-up.

nah, there's Noisia and Black Sun Empire. in terms of popularity.

Not exactly huge, only in the crusty hardcore/hard dnb scene. They'll probably headline the Body Shop though, where all the action goes down.

& na, no collab between CV & Remarc.

The rest of the fest line-ups don't do much for me, but nonetheless, so far they read;




Glad they're playing (not sure I've ever even seen them together ) but gutted Digi Mystikz are on that stage, the pure dub/reggae one would've made way more sense.

I don't think it's sad at all, on the contrary even, if it's possible to do both and not lose any credibility, it's there.
Ruff-teck, one of Nl's first dnb labels and techstep specifically was started by Ruffneck, one of Nl's biggest hardcore producers.
guys like Bong-Ra or FFF, sorry for putting them in the same sentence but it's kind of inevitable here, integrate their hardcore influences in their breakbeat work as a very natural result of their geografic position.
and speaking about hardcore.. weren't a lot of gabbers influenced by breakbeat or hip hop in the early days up untill now?
there are numerous hardcore releases with breakbeat tracks out there, and I'd even consider that The Outside Agency are a popular act within both fields because they work with little to no genre-crossing restrictions.

Sad was more of a 'joke'. I love both hardcore and dnb and I primarily MAKE both types of music :p but dnb IS big in NL and the third biggest DNB export from NL being primarily hardcore is pretty contrary to that.

...Though I forgot about Limewax. He's probably the biggest thing in dnb in NL after Noisia and BSE.
