That is not value for £. Never buy a pre-built rig if you want to minimise the spend. I just built a new rig, so I'm up on all the current geek stuff.danrev wrote:kruptah wrote:wish i had a gaming rig....

I wanna get this one, but I'm skint at the moment, and then I'd need to get a monitor and a keyboard and then transport it all up to Manchester where my internet connection isnt nearly as good. Plus I dont know whether the one I'm looking at is actually any good and whether it'll be outdated in no time.
I just built a system for the same money as that rig you quoted (minus monitor and Hdd's), which is 30-40% better. You can knock £90+ off what I built if your not bothered about overclocking, silence and looks.
Forget AMD. Bulldozer is a lame duck, you would have to overclock the hell out of it, and they will be bringing a new version out soon anyway (piledriver), which still won't be as good as intel.
(For MAX graphics in any current game and reasonable future-proofing @ 1680x1050)
You will have to spend at least £155 for an Intel i5 2500k, but £20 more will get you the new ivybridge intel. As for GPU you will need at least ATI 6870 £140, But I know a place you can get a 6950 for the same money.
Aria is the best place in the uk for pc stuff and they are based in Manchester. If your stuck I could make a build at aria if you give me a target £.
I got the rig for dual DAW/gamer rig for Dayz, but I grew bored of Dayz just watching people run about all day on youtube. So I play GTA IV and BF3 etc...
