i quite like that tune that got posted. don't see how it's more boring than a lot of the bollocks that gets posted on here.

obviously it'll never match the greatness of

<iframe src="/forum/video.php?url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULFQVzFt6RY" frameborder="0" style="overflow:hidden; height:auto; max-width:540px"></iframe>

but then what will?

I don't rate burial, i don't get "emotional" over his tunes and there isn't anything there for me to chin stroke over production wise, dislike.

wolf89 wrote:Yeah but ambient as a word can be a genre. If you say "is it ambient or dance music" it implies that meaning. Which it isn't.

The problem is not that it isn't dance music it's that it's always so cheesy, bland and boring. Plus the pretentious future tag. Also when you do bad garage that doesn't really have that aspect that makes you want to move it just makes me want to hear actual garage.
well agree to disagree, but i do agree that the "future" tag is pretty fucking stupid...

Seems like there's a fair amount of people in the scene who don't like burial or at least say he's overrated

interesting.....imo I think he deserves every shred of appreciation he gets

can i just say future garage without having to put quotations around it or say "so-called" before it? :6: people reaaaallly hate that term

future garage and chillstep :middlefinger:

he's actually the most overrated thing i've ever (personally) witnessed and come across in music, some people's reactions almost seem satirical

the burial question is a bit like the lana del rey question for me (dont get mad).
i find lana del rey's album really interesting.
not in the sense that it's compelling but that its so polarizing
and makes me think about authenticity and relevance of morality to art and how it lacks both and whether it can be enjoyed in spite of its blandness and emptiness and repugnant vision (not so relevant to burial)
whether had the artist intended these to be the real problems of her work it would somehow gain an artistic merit it lacked...
its idiosyncrasies like her ridiculous delivery etc
whether the fact the production is really samey on all the tracks takes away from any particular track sounding good (this and last one v relevant to burial)
etc

It has not much to do with the music itself, it's the way people talk about it on the internet, it's just tunes, people acting like burial literally wanks them off through every track, extreme hyperbole.

if just "liking the tunes" was all there is to appreciating burial then he really IS overrated.

im not into garage but i like burial, and i think his use of vocal samples is what makes his music so good. and a lot of people who like burial are also no into garage and dont really know that what burial does isnt anything new or groundbreaking, and arent used to it either. so to a lot of listeners burial's music is very novel and unique.

why? do I have to give in depth review of what burial's music invokes in me? (although I'm almost positive that I've done that multiple times before  )

I was kind of just saying that as a joke dfd because your post was so analytical and intricate ;) but your last post about burial being overrated if everyone just liked his tunes doesnt really make sense
