I'm really feeling juke. It has this really hectic, bassy, repetitive, vocal sound that isn't seen in many electronic genres.

Though simmering for years in the stew of Chicago's nascent footwork and juke scene, the sound of Spinn & Rashad's frenetic 808 programming and deftly sliced r&b loops has turned into an epidemic in recent years, informing the trajectory of club music the world over. DJ Spinn's and DJ Rashad's skills behind the turntables, honed from years playing after-school footwork battles, provide the perfect soundtrack for adrenaline-fueled, 160 BPM dance mayhem. We caught them both live at 2012's Villette Sonique Festival in Paris.

loving this shit, definetly ahead of the curve. ive noticed lately many europeans and adopters from other genres use waaay to many hihats and offbeat rhythms (probably a remnant of the swung garage hats) this album should be a reminder on how its done properly.
i mean dont get me wrong i love myself some krampfhaft or ital tek but you cant mix that shit, its more living room music whereas this works on every level.

It was the same with grime years ago, but back in then I also wanted to listen to the music in my car and in my bedroom etc. With Juke, I'd love to see people dancing live to it or maybe on youtube, but that is about it, and seeing as no one at my local club can dance to it or plays it that is a tough proposition. I took a juke mix on holiday to listen to by the pool and it just gave me a headache.
Really? Because I am completely and totally obsessed with the stuff and listening to it at home, at work, in the car... I've lost track of how many times I've listened to the µ-Ziq mix. That was my introduction to footwurk. I played the mix and then just started it over, I think 4 times. I couldn't fucking believe the shit.
@fractal "half-time juke" - that is the dark footwurk stuff that µ-Ziq is repping. Party juke is the stuff that's been around since the 90's and has a clap on 2 and 4. Footwurk tends to have a clap on 3, although they fuck with it a lot.
@fractal Is Bishop the producer on all these vids yer posting? if so why the hell isn't µ-Ziq on the case?!?!
As far as the dj roc album goes, i've heard it too and if you're into the sound you'll love it but it's not going to win any converts. People that don't get dj nate are not going to get turned around by the crack capone.
That µ-Ziq mix is interesting! Thanks for that, quite good!!
I can't seem to find the mix you're talking about....link?
