Kahn's grime, as much as I like it, can hardly be held up as a paragon of originality though, can it?

goin back to the point about rewinds, yesh stop dat shit lol

1 rewind per tune for only the set bangers/classics is necesary, rewinding a tune more than twice is just fucking silly, i just wanna hear the next big tune lol

But I don’t always care about the creating a pumped-up energy in a club. Depends where I am, how many people I’m playing to, and what mood I’m in.
I played ‘Kalindi’ live in Lisbon, Portugal last weekend. The whole crowd froze dead. Just stared me out. I was like ‘You’ve never fucking heard a soundscape in a club before have you’. I did it because I wanted people to realise I was trying something new. I was daring to go against it all. Playing honest music that wasn’t made at all for a club. Afterwards some girls came up to me to ask what the ‘Kalindi’ tune was. And I was saying to myself in my head ‘sick, it worked’.

this paragraph made me lol

Assuming the 'label he's releasing on that he'd love to mention but can't' is Medi?

started following him on facebook. "overly humble" nails it. a bit cringeworthy from time to time, especially some of his brownnosers.
still a superb producer imho.

I give my crowd the Fall Of Phaeton treatment every now and then, people dig it.
Kalandi is more of a transition tune though, to get from point A to B.

Yeah, this has been going around for nearly a year.

Jeeezzz
Compa: If I could release my music on any label in the world, it would be Deep Medi. Deep Medi was the first label that inspired me and taught me about this music. And Mala was the first ‘Dubstep’ producer I ever learned of thru the DMZ records (That I found at my mates house whilst looking thru his Drum n Bass records back in 2008). Deep Medi didn’t only inspire me though- I’ve always felt like my music sits well with the label sound. That being deep, meditative, honest music
Looked up KOKESHI, surely everyone stopped and stared him out because its just sound? half way through a set you just cut all the bass for 4mins would have any DJ in the world being stared out?

Maybe its the way he goes on about deep medi but it reminded me of how Mala sometimes opens with Mark pritchard-?

Except that bit of music is great.

Yeah my thoughts exactly.

I'm all for adventurous selection but slinging in a bit of ambient for the sake of it (deading the crowd/momentum of your set in the process) isn't worth it.

Mala did it well @ the Medi xmas skank, after 4am people were getting a bit bogged down in the relentless 140, so he played Question Mark, a few Andy Stott bits and some roots. Went down an absolute treat.
