This thread started so great... I was so excited by the prospect of Artists such as Snoop Dogg becoming part of this scene (even if it was a flash in the pan single release). But clearly as is always the case it appears on this forum people cant take things with a pinch of salt and start the name calling.
I will agree the tune might not be great... It is a good solid tune though. Not to the normal UK styled elitist who follows dubstep like a moth to the light. But its a good start for this project. Which is going to be a direction that will be like Marmite but who cares...... It can only help the scene.
Im sure that this scene is about diversity
I feel for Plastician. people gunning at the project which he has been part of. Im sorry but having spoken to him on many occasions...Normally drunk but these are the best convo's, he is safe as houses and is definetly not out to make a quick buck.
I cant wait to here what else comes from this project. Even if it isnt exactly what i expect from the scene and may not play in my usual set.... i wont hate because its part of my scene that i am proud 99.9% of the time, I can understand why this has happened... A scene like ours that is so robust and diverse that has evolved so quickly in recent years it was inevitable that at some point this would happen.
Thats my 10p worth...

What is this project btw? Plastician working with snoop dogg?
Get the Bug in aswell
If those guys produce tracks for him to rap over I'll be confident it will be quality dubstep.
Even though I think this track was a bit of a false start.

Plastcian hasnt revealed the name of the project or who is really running it.......... But he said he has sent a lot of tunes to someone in US who has sent them out to Big american artists to vocal. Thats the project... A mixtape some might say.

lol @ this thread. shud just get locked because its not gonna go anywer...
couple things ill say before the lock tho.....
1) this is not "dubstep". this tune is commercial rap and will be listened to by that crowd. they will think its rap, maybe a few will hear the name dubstep and look into it but on the surface this tune would be percieved as commercial rap with just a bit of a different sound...
the beat may be dubstep structurally (even with the shitty changes from wild animals) but its drowned and saturated by the cheesy rap and its lost its vibe. its merely a noisey wobble in the background.
2) LOL @ the way some people are speaking in this thread. never seen so much use of bait hip hop mannerisms until this thread happened. now all of a sudden you have guys talkin like there snoop dog themselves.

how can you say that? how can it only help the scene? what happened to uk-garage? people didnt give respect to the scene and it got raped, now its non excistent
and to everyone saying "i cant believe everyones arguing" - what do you expect? its a discussion forum, if everyone conformed to the same opinion the thread would be one page long

cool, could still be a interesting convo, doesnt have to be a argument.
i think its a fair point to discuss what & why people feel inclined to DEFINE what dubstep IS, rather than just enjoy what it is to THEM...
i think its the fundamental problem here... and with music scenes in general...
"dubstep" is always this magnificent undefinable future music, lol, until something comes along that doesnt fit in peoples molded tunnels, then its shit, or just, "not dubstep"
so caught up in what "dubstep" is, people seem to miss the point that what this IS is people and music, and its the breaking down of stupid barriers in music "genre" & culture that make music (and "dubstep in particular) the most awesome unifying force weve got.
do some of yall really not understand how SICK it is that snoop dogg, chase & status, MURS & Plastician all had something to do with this!??! (i am interested in how MURS is in this, i hope hes gonna be rappin to some tunes!!!!)
like, im just happy to see MURS gettin his even, talk about a dude whose been on the grind!!
but as if this is anything totally out of the blue or unexpected!! lol eligh from living legends put out a cd with some dubstep beats on it mixed last year... do you really think the LA underground is THAT disconnected?? and that the dubstep & bass scenes arent crawlin with mad Underground Hiphop cats? do you think that ALL "mainstream" rappers are really THAT disconnected????? yo, its all ONE music family, the quicker you realize, the more fun youll have... imho.

lol...
man, chase & status are fucking bad ass.
on some real shit, first they straight up smacked the dnb scene with dubstep. i dunno how many of yall really saw it, but im a junglist still and have watched their effect in dnb, its wild how many heads finally got converted to dubstep by them, and they were raw about it, straight up playin dubstep at prime times when they were really "supposed" to be spinnin dnb...
and now this!?! and this shit is really about to blow the fuck up, which is why there is so much energy around this thread...
fucking awesome, well played guys, fucking genre coup de tat with one tune!! madness...

yeah and KRS1 has stolen beats from hiphop producers without financial compensation here in the states.. happens alot really. high profile mc's, no matter how 'positive', are not the best look for the folks on the ground imo, there's a difference between people who look at studio sessions as somewhere to break ground musically and studio sessions as something to profit offa
