@OPRS, liking the build up of the intro, the vocal sample makes it dark. after that I feel it goes down hill, cause you got this really atmospheric intro making a great vibe/feeling and then a really harsh synth in there just destroying everything, I would def try to do something else with that but that's me. the kick is really to the left on my headset, not really feeling that. Love the male chant in the second part and the female chant. the hats are quite dry, maybe give em a bit of reverb? atm i'm not feeling this, sorry bruv. (btw it does remind me of armour - iron man
@ ada the production is really thight. I do feel the snare is lacking a bit of punch too it. nothing else really to comment on it.
@ficticiou it's a really happy song, the overal atmosphere is saying 'joy' I think the vocal sample is a bit too loud but only by a bit. I really like the small quirky sounds and the percussion is rally nicely done. after the second drop the songs get's drowned in your bass. either compress it more/lower it or raise the levels of the other sounds.
thinking about it, it's the only part of the song I feel is off is the bassline, it doesn't fit with the light sounds of the rest of the song. But this is the best track i've heard you doing till date, so big up bruv!
@mthrfnk: vocals are too loud, the intro was nice, hoped for a nice dnb track was kinda dissapointed. mixing wise, everything is nice and crisp. overal nicely done.

i'll leave more feedback tomorrow!

new track, would like feedback especially on use of: percussion/one shots/the growl anything else is also fine :)

I have now changed my name to Mr. Slenderman. Thought that was cooler' Refer to me by that if you will :w: :D

Thanks for the feeback, I'll work on that tune. Got another one I'm working on now. The bass in it is so insanely loud it makes my headphones rumble. Had to turn it down to -22db when it's normally around 10...crazy

Also lowered the bass in the song a lot, Should I change the bassline? Not sure... I have an off note? Oh at 1:19! k fixed!

Realizing there's a bunch of sounds in there already. The only other thing I can really add is a few more frequencies on the intro I think.

And should I sidechain the kick?

@wewuk: I like the atmosphere and the minimalisticness (<diggin that word I just made up) is flowing and groovy. I'm not sure if the snare fits the kick that great. maybe less high on the snare. I would filter it. my opinion though. it kinda grew on me but I would still filter it ha sounds good all in all

@Ada: (parts :08 - :36 & :38 - 1:06) I think these two parts should sound closer alike. maybe less bass in the second part or put that bass in the first part also.
(parts 1:24 - 1:38) I don't know if I like the second part of your drop :/. it's not bad. I just don't think I like it. perhaps if it was more similar to the first part of your drop and four to the floor? or mix both parts of the drop together and add some more shit to it or something ha
and it seems to completely repeat after that. overall I do enjoy your remix. no beef is a fun song and you did a decent job on it. maybe do some filtering on the pella. I would structure the song a little differently and you got some banger material
I could go into more detail about structuring your song as well if you would like

@Ficticious: very interesting track to say the least. there isn't a lot of 'umph' in the kick. maybe no kick at all? and it sounds like you're doing too much of something in your lows. I think it's too much limiting or lots of drive. I would turn down a few knobs. like the drive or output on the synth or filter out some of the muddy mid/hi frequencies. and your progression is much different from a lot of music I hear now a days. nothing to change about that really unless you want to. it makes a peculiar mood for the track. this track would make some good DnB if that was your style

and here is my wip
Soundcloud
sorry I don't make dubstep, this is house
I used some of the metal scratchings from binaural in this also
I'm at the point where I'm going to have to get more creative than I really want to right now. I spent the last few hours making this. it's all I've done today :D

blu2-I would make the metal scratching sounds a little more rhythmic, they're a little distracting. Your percussion is nice. Also, the spacey synth is cool. Maybe don't have the scratching with the other drums. Because the drums + scratching = rhythm nightmare. Other than that, you have a solid foundation right now. Maybe add some high end stuff.

wewuk- that atmosphere is nice, and I like that you're using the vocal to create atmosphere. those bongos are nice too. I'd like to hear some more snare though maybe like have a switch up where the snare's hit like the bongos and vice versa. Not for an extended period of time, but just as a fill.

electric-head - The percussion was spot on. The atmosphere is great, I like how you're making the atmosphere do most of the work. Also, the bass is really solid, yet subtle. to be honest it kind of snuck up on me. I really liked it. Not really sure what you're looking for in terms of feedback, to me its pretty much all there.

I've been working on this and I'm wondering where to go with it.
I like the foundation, but it needs more.
(Also, before anyone says it, right now it's basically just one chord progression being played with several slightly different synths)

Thanks for the advice guys. Since a lot of people seem to like the track I'm focusing more on that one now.

I took it as best as I could so far. Here's how it came out. Still haven't changed some sounds on the progression, was thinking near the end but I don't think it needs it, just cutting the song short will work fine I think.

Will give feedback to you guys after school/ tomorrow when my ears are fresh.

Soundcloud

Hard to tell if my bass is too low, I just simply turned it down and raised the kick.

Hey Guys. Long time no C. From the last one.

@Ficticious Don't like the panning. IMHO, clap/snare has to be more or less centered. You can pan other snare/clap samples, but leave the main one centered. I like the progression. Can't say anything about bass as my wife is sleeping next to me so I'm only using headphones.
@blu2 Dude that metal sound is way too loud. From 1.31 there is cool vibe going on man. But you loose it when it goes out of sync, maybe it's intentional, idk :)
@wewuk Love it! Dark as hell! Samples are cool! I can tell that You put time in to it as small details really helps to paint the image that I get in my head while listening to it.

Now guys don't kill me, but I would like to get feedback for two very short unfinished tracks:)

Really like the vibe of the first track. Love the synth and the kind of disjointed beat. Maybe the bass just above the sub could be beefed up a tad but its pretty close none the less.

The second track i didn't like as much but I really like it at the 53 second mark when the percussion has plenty of space and the pads in the background fill out the sound nicely. Good job overall tho!

Ficticious
I wasn't a huge fan of the chord progression if I'm honest and the progression seems a bit messy. I think the string leadish part in the background doesn't suit the track.

Houston Weather
I don't really like the kick you've used, maybe try a bigger kick sample. When the bass kicks in its a bit muddy, try EQing out some of the mids between 400-800ish to give it a bit more room to breath.

blu2
Your kick seems a little weird for the track, I would have maybe gone for a cleaner low end thuddy kick. The track doesn't seem to really go anywhere so for my tastes it needs a few more ideas.

wewuk
I like this a lot, especial when the bongos kick in. One thing I'd maybe do is just EQ some of the low out of the vocal sample when it comes in, other than that its coming along great.

Electric_Head
This is just great, nice clear mixdown. Two things maybe worth trying, maybe get some reverse reverb on the vocal samples so they don't come in quite so abruptly and at 3.20 the hats seem a tad upfront in the mix, but thats only a taste thing.

Ada
Don't really have anything constructive to say except that this is awesome. Big work!

Ok.. Here's a couple. The first one is just the last track i've posted with a better mixdown, pretty much good to go. The second one is a newbie (ish). Would love thoughts yo!

@Burgeamon: They're defenitly both catchy and have some cool sounds, but a lot of the sounds have really harsh resonancies to them. Also the snare isn't coming through well at all, only the bit of punch in it. Also a little more variation in the hihats would do it well. All in all a pretty bit track though.

@ficticious: not bad, although it doesn't appear to be in any particular key, so some of it is really dark, and other parts are cheesily bright. Also there's way too many sounds with low end going on at once so it just sounds rumbly at this point. I would try to focus on finding a key you like and trying to stick to it. Some really cool ideas and sounds in here though.

@houston weather: The melody isn't bad, but most of the sounds need work. I can't hear your kick at all once the bass comes in. Also that once hat you use over and over gets a bit old after a while. I'd also change the snare; seems kind of static to me. Just my 2 cents. Keep working on it!

This is my newest WIP. I have no idea what genre it'd be other than EDM. Anyways it defenitly needs some work but comments and criticisms always welcome.

cmgoodman1226- around 0:30 the percussion seems to hit off beat every now and then. Other than that I really like the track, nice vibes and from what I can tell the mix is pretty good.

Burgeamon- over all nice tune I would bring the high sqeal down just a hair in the mix because your stabs get overpowered by it a little.

dmtsbreakz- the first one is a beauty, love the atmosphere. On the second one the sub seems a little too loud or over compressed it seems to have lost some quality.

I've been out for about 5 months so I'm rusty here is the basic skeleton of a dubstep/dnb tune I'm working on feed back is highly appreciated.

Haven't posted a WIP in a while, so I will :3

UPDATED WIP: Soundcloud

Here is my feedback:

@Burgeamon: Awesome beat bro, nothing much to say here :3

@cmgoodman1226: The main drop feels like it's missing something, but other than that, it's real good...

@Creepfinger: O___O Love those bass vroooom sounds! awesome bro! sounds like some Datsik shit d-_-b After the "Die Down Here" part, do the DnB drop right away, don't do the vroom... :3

@SMOR3S - do something about those bells, they get real repetitive real quick. Also imo make sure your kick are mono, panning your kick seem like a weird idea

@Creepfinger - haha like that resident evil sample you use ;D also probably tone down reverb during the first half just a tad. Also think of way to transit into your DnB section, it was awkward to just go into that section like that out of nowhere imo

@Burgeamon - really good stuff here, but try to make the syths that comes after the bass of the first half of the main part a little brighter or louder.

here's my WIP, nothing to creative again just want to work on my production skills on getting everything to sit right. Appreciate any constructive critique :)

I don't think the panned kicks are to bad, but how does the main bassline sound?

And your WIP... that is just the drop right?

*EDIT* Is it okay to pan snares?

"Houston Weather", you have a grand track there! But the drums are a bit too low in volume, and the drum's themselves sound a bit slugrat. I would suggest a bit more EGing: the main synth sound's a bit muddy against the rest of the mix.
"cmgoodman1226", delicious existence there. I love the reese and hoover duo, but like "Hip hop" and Hip hop inspired music, "they" often have the drums lacking in-impact.

Now for me (-30 == +40 seconds) bit of a song, as most people here I would enjoy if you happen to give "feedback".
Soundcloud

Oh, and a special track(not by me)that needs some "feedback".

@sluggy That reese bass is fucking awesome. This sounds like an awesome start to what I'm sure will be a sick track. The mixing sounds really clean - the snare might be a tad too loud. But other than that it sounds great. Only other real suggestion I have is maybe add some cymbal crashes to add a bit of emphasis to the start of each 8 bar phrase or whatever. Also, the sub sounds a little overpowering at 0:11. It's fine throughout the drop section though. The data bending sounds on your second track are pretty sweet too. Maybe you could somehow incorporate some of them into your WIP? Nice stuff.

@thelastthing Bassline is sounding really good - I like the variety of synth sounds you use. Really heavy vibe goin on. I like it. I don't really have much other feedback other than that. It sounds great so far dude, keep it up. Maybe try changing up your bassline melody towards the second half?

@SMOR3S There's a weird spike in the vocal sample volume around 1:02 that could use some fixing up I think. I'm not really a fan of the vocals, but if you like them, keep em in. The build up to the drop could use a little more emphasis I think rather than just doing a standard kick drum roll. The harsh panning / levels of the glitches that happen during the drop are a little much. I really like the bells and bubbly synths you use. I think you could probably change up the melody during the second drop or something. The bass synths you use are really cool. I think this track has potential - I'd just re-examine some of your levels and panning.

Here's a short little tune I made:

I'll go ahead and post feedback now, and then my WIP in a bit...

@thelastthing: Really good for a main bassline, but I had to turn my volume down, it was mad loud :3

@sluggy: Good track.. at 0:16, it sounds kind of weird, when it sputters.. idk.. maybe that's just me thinking that...

And that second track, WTF! O__O my ears...

@almostskate100: Really chill melody.. It would be cool if you incorporated this into a chillstep track :3
