I'm starting to think that some of the people on the dsf are getting lazy and not even listening to the tracks,
but just looking at comments and
copying the main point or review of each person's feedback.. missing the little details that would actually make the difference..
as for your track mate.. I really enjoy the intro's melody, real exotic and tribal kinna.. but the rest of the perc(besides the hi hat)
just feels out of place, like it doesn't belong with the style.. and monotonous, the kick felt off also...
I feel like you should go and change it up, add a lot of low end, add a sub, and shuffle the pattern
toms, tambhits, maracas, tambourines.. all of that !
add that, and focus on making the track really tribal . it sounds like that's where your going with tbh, I like the overall vibe, and I can see what your going after bruv..

@wewuk: I am using a 3 snare sample, from Deadmau5's Xfer.. I might try some new samples, just cause I don't really care for them to much, but I love the kicks and claps.. I could however record, my own claps, cause my mic is decent.. Add some reverb, and EQ them, and that would give it a really nice natural sound.. Also what do you mean by swing on the hi hats? :/, and should I take out some of the FX samples, like the stutter and yip sounds, and just lean, more towards the modulation, of the main bassline only?

@wewuk: The bongos straight killed it bro! I love bongos :3 The shakers give the track really nice atmosphere.. I don't even know what genre this would be, but the track sound clean, and I love bongos, so it's a win from me.. The second part seems kind of slow, is that a break down? 2:19 sounds kind of weird, that's just me though, the bassline there just seems really generic sounding.. :/ sowwiee!

@smro3s: I what you maybe could do is add some delay to the snare, not too much just a lil bit to give it a bit more tail. and I like the FX samples I don't like the modulation part at all, I would def go for the main bassline and try to work with that, make that the main part of the song. what you also could try is to mix the modulation more into the song, atm it's not flowing with the rest of the song, hope you get what I mean.
about the snare/clap: they sound really dry like you have not used any reverb/delay etc on them, that makes them sound really bland. I hope I make some sense having a hard-time trying to get over what I mean in english. Sorry

Okay, ya, I haven't verbed the snares at all yet, just EQ'd them, to get rid of the low end..

Also for the bassline, I basically made two main parts.. The main bit crushed typed modulation, which is pretty much the core of the bassline, and then the FX, which are everything else like, the yip sounds, stutter, sputters, glitches, growls, high stab growls etc... I do like how I did the panned gaps, I really like panning a lot (if you couldn't tell), but other than that, I might take out some of the glitch sounds, cause it does make the track sound wonky, aye?

Thanks for all the feedback.. I understand that's it's my track, and the way I envision it, is totally mine alone, but all the feedback does help, to understand the necessary things, to make the track sound more clean during the mix.. This is the first time I am actually going ahead, and mixing it down my self... I usually have my friends do it for me, but I am wanting to learn now, and I am wanting to feel that pride, in knowing that I created that track 120%, my self, through the production, the mixing, and the mastering...

klesherdubs- The sounds are pretty good, but the bass isn't really defined and the intro takes way to long. Either add some variations in the intro or start sooner. In the bass heavy sections sometimes the drums get lost.

smor3s- seriously? This is awesome. Funny while somehow sounding kind of menacing. Like it's so upbeat and bouncy that it feels wrong. I don't know what possessed you to make this but its awesome. Its a little light on the bass, but that might have been your point.

wewuk- (for the WIP in your sig) The atmosphere is epic. was this recorded? I mean in the background around 2:40 ish. From 2:55 on is gold. Nothing wrong with the music before but from the waveform I figured this was going to be a bit monotone. I thought you might want to pan around the bongos that come in towards the end, they were pushed off to the right (headphones) and then the atmospheric noise came in louder to the left. Made it sound wide, but a little thin.

As far as this WIP is concerned, its one of those things where I'm wondering if there's something there, or if I should call it on this one. I don't dislike the WIP or anything, but I made it in an hour playing around with a massive patch I got off of here. (Thanks Oprs!) I guess I'm looking for moments to expand. The accordion-like sound that comes in was supposed to sound unnerving and off beat, but considering the drums are already strange enough, I think the accordion might be too much. Let me know what you guys think!

smor3s- the intro with the snare is just a little bland. it needs something to get it all together. not diggin the vocals but thats all preference. i feel like when it drops its lacking movement, to get people moving if you get me.

klesher- the perc play in the intro is nice, loving the uplifiting pad sample. pretty spot on for the intro for sure. bass IS WAY to loud. way, way. WEHY. to loud, its drowning everything out, go back and fix that and i can crit the rest of the song, it sounds like it will be a nice one.

houston- took a listen to this in the thread, i feel like you need some more atmosphere to get everything together. and no problem on the patches, got some more coming in the next few days.

@Houston Weather: Really nice synths, and ambiance, but that hat is lacking motivation.. Spruce that bad boy up with some delay, cause it seems to short.. This would work in glitch, but just not feeling it here.. Other than that, the track sounds well produced.. /)

@oprs: When those light switch noises come in, it feel like I am stepping into a stadium, like a gladiator, and when the drop hits, I am fighting! Well done! I could picture that as the music video :3 Fighting some Lions, or huge Giants, or something!

Response to feedback given to me: The vocals I am keeping, cause that's the theme of the track.. Idk if your familiar with Brony music, but it's My Little Pony (G4), themed music.. I was making a UKF Dubstep Tutorial redux track, cause I really like what they did with theirs.. The snare is a 3 layered snare, constructed 3 samples, from the Deadmau5 Xfer pack, and it has been EQ'd with a highpass, but I just don't think it pops well.. I want a really nice, pop sounding snare, with a hollow impact.. Any recommendation on Kick/Snare packs? I think the kick are really good in this pack, but the snares, and claps are meh.. I am going to record some actual clap sounds with my mic, cause even the claps sounds to fake.. Real claps EQ'd will sounds good vs. any processed digital samples... The drop also doesn't seem like a huge problem to me.. I like really chill, mellow, good feeling music.. That's why my EP has that up beat, relaxation feel.. "Her Final Ending" has seagull and ocean sounds, to really make your mind get intact with the track.. Thanks for all the feedback though.. I think my production level is increasing at a good pass.. I am not looking to produce Beatport worthy material (even though that sounds cliche), but I am just looking to make music, that I enjoy making, but with the obvious, professional techniques..

Here is my most recent WIP Update... (Oct 9th)

Added like a 7 bar space intro, so when I do the mastering, I'll have room. I know that's probably obvious, but just making sure ^__^ Also added some jungle/rainforest sounds, and EQ'd something a bit more... Raised the vocals, and lowered the modulation levels.. Also fixed up the glitch pattern, ever so slightly...

@SMOR3S: heard this track so many times haha, nice ambience you've added the bells sound better now, the mix sounds good. Overall sounds quite cool, not sure what else to suggest - seems like you've almost finished this one.
@oprs: Nice intro, ambience is good. I like the bass stabs and the build. Drop is good, nice powerful track and the drums come through well - mix sounds clean. Not sure what to suggest, sounds great aready
@Houston Weather: A strange one, may turn out nice with a few more hours or it may just be meh haha. Overall I'm not feeling the drums, but the synths are nice enough. Perhaps play with it some more on a fresh set of ears - if it sounds lame to you then give it up but like I said the pads are nice, could work into a nice chilled track

your track, I was feeling the intro, real smooth and dark, I like it.. I really like it !. hahah reminds me of VIVEK, now this is just me.. but your intro feels too long, not a bad thing, but the way it set into the riser around 28 makes you ready for that drop.. Im sure you made it purposely like that for suspense for the next drop right
its a good idea, but I think shortening would be much better.. the kick, Im guessing is what it is after 28 ?.. its really unnecessary.. and beef it up !, its too pussy(cat)
we dogs, were dark, we want beef ! hahah.. open the low end up more, the snare rim sample and the beginning would sound better not being theree... the main section is nice... the sounds you use are nice and dark !(: lovee dark... but the snare, isn't feeling dark... like the track's progression plays out and sets,
work on the percussion section having more movement, and everything light, take out, or pitch dark, space it out more to, ! ha.. don't have the percussion jumbled up,
we feeling a deep track, open it up and put some reverb, make it dungeon like ! ha, the second section with the mixup is nice, but the perc is still sounding happy..
the everything about the track is good.. but we want great, so main focuses:
1. Beef up the Kick
2. Darken and open the percussion, give room and depth to it
3. most importantly boost that low end ! wanna feel the bass in my face ! great work though mate, at it n out

@BudSpencertron: I feel like either your new, or your not putting as much as you can into the track itself.. the idea is there, but most of the sounds are dry and unoriginal.. the perc is nice but gets hella repetitive quick.. the main wobble doesn't seem to blend.. but yet sit on top of the track like a nasty pimple.. its just a pest..
I don't mean to be harsh, just the truth, or how I feel.. but I'm doing this to help you get better !.. so don't feel insulted.. anyone who says otherwise, doesn't have an ear for music, or is purely lieing on a friend level because they don't want to offend you.. but, the base is good, which is something most people don't have, by base I mean
percussion section.. people tend to forget that, or just mimic the same sound over and over.. you just copied a pattern/rhythm.. nothing wrong with that to learn the basics ..
just focus on getting some rhythm in your drums, thats most of importance,
watch some hip hop video tutorials to get an idea.. wanna feel the sway and movement in the tune
your idea for the wobble is good.. but the wobble is just everywhere, it needs to have a standard foundation, being precise.. not necessarily predictable
but suitable and easy on the ears.. enjoyable to where its ok if the same pattern repeats.. its a good pattern, the wobble sound though, oh its good
maybe some effects to give it a more character.. and focus on making a track blend.. making the sounds MIX as if there suppose to be together.. no other way would sound better.. you get what Im going at ? Better yet.. MAKE ELEMENTS NOT SOUNDS , elements blend in an essence of natural music.. haha I know its a lot to take in but consider it, you've got potential bruv.. ! keep at it !
