Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was awesome the first time, because it was before all the other new kung fu movies (hero, flying daggers etc.) And it's pretty great and definatly epic.

I love that film, despite it being pretentious as FUCK. First watched it on a heavy comedown, and it was probably the best film experience I've ever had. Repeated viewings were even better, picking up lots of new things every time I watch it.

Yeah man that's a sick sick film!

I watched another film recently that follows a few policemen in brazil around slums, it was fucking awesome, you should check it out if you like COG. I think it's called Tropa De Elite
that sounds pretty sick...definitely wanna see shit from the law enforcement side of things. that'd be crazy in itself!
Yeah man, I highly highly recommend it, also the sequel to COG is pretty sweet, not as good, but a very very good film
you talking about the mini-series?

Nah, there's a proper sequel, not many people seem to know about it though :o

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0870090/

Same title as the series probably causes confusion?

Na man, I wouldnt call it pretentious, but I literally can't find words to describe how good it is. I think it's a film totally open to interpretation though, as you said every time you watch it you can take something new away, or spot something you never saw before...

Seems there's a good few people in here with fine taste in films, I highly highly recommend the following:

The Fountain
Funny Games (GERMAN version)
Magnolia
Happiness
Romanzo criminal
La Haine
Pi

Mul-Dr. makes little sense...and apparently the actors themselves were confused as to what the fuck was going on in the plot. I don't think Lynch ever explained it.

I saw infernal affairs before the departed, so naturally I favour it due to already knowing the story before going in to the departed. That said however, the scene where everyone fucking dies at the elevator was much more brutal and unexpected in the departed. Infernal affairs draws it out a bit too much.
Also, mark wahlberg's character was fucking incredible. Tbh, I don't really prefer one over the other, despite them having the same story, they both pull it off in really unique ways. Scorsese's is a bit more brutal, infernal affairs was more 'holy FUCK this is stylish'
