I think what you kids don't get is that this is way back when Dubstep was still DUBstep, not a vague relation to Bassline/Garage with a bit more attitude. It's a flagship tune for a reason, because it rocks the socks off most people that hear it.
Hate it if you hate it, love it if you love it, but you can't argue with the fact that it is one of the best Dubstep tracks ever.

Dubstep has always been a relation to garage.

I can argue with the idea that's it's the best dubstep track ever because that's subjective. Hugely influential and representative of the genre to other people, absolutely, but not necessarily the best.

What? Dubstep came from garage, from the same place as grime, sublow, 8 bar, that stuff.
The 'dub' bit was an influence, to do with the bass weight culture, not the basis of the genre.

It's all about timing... it came at the right time for the genre when things were fresh and this just pushed it forward. Also, it is a killer track.. bad boy sub!

Obviously garage and grime have had a massive influence on Dubstep and so has Dub, but because no-one who makes Dubstep was alive when Dub was created it's been absorbed via various other genres of electronic music... prominently Jungle. Plus not everything needs to be placed in a specific genre...it's all music so if you like it you like it! look at BokBok and L-vis.... nobody knows what on earth genre they fit into but they make cool music!

That's not what I meant, I mean Dubstep used to be a fusion of Dub and 2step.. nuclear garage and so on. But is today more a fusion of garage and niche/bassline - It's rare that you find a dubbier track that everyone goes 'Oooo that's a banger!' too. Nowadays it's the hard, fast angry sounding tracks that everyone hype up.

I think the new wave of dubstep is what attracted the big crowds, so that'll be why more people are thinking the old school dub tunes are over hyped, because they've come to expect that a banger is going to rip their insides apart with violent chainsaw bass.

Lol back in the day this was THE banger. One of the all time great tracks. I might have overplayed it in the years since it's release but it's still one of my favourite tunes to blast just because of the memorys. There are a lot of tunes better than it out now but it definitely deserves it's status in dubstep music.

This!! Everyone forgets that it was one of the biggest tunes for grime djs around that time as well as dubstep. Flirta D & Skepta clashed over it at sidewinder if i'm not mistaken

yeah they were reggae influence on lots of tunes, especially early on, but thats pretty much the same as any "urban" UK style since the 70s.. bass culture in general is a massive part of british musical heritage from Post Punk to Jungle to Dubstep.. it's not a new thing that appeared when Coki and Mala started putting out tunes.

I think I'll start slowing the vocals down with my DAW and translating them into actual lyrics and we'll see if it's me, or they just don't know how to ride a beat. Maybe it's me. Doubt it.
