nowaysj,
Are you trying to say that we shouldn't look here for great production advice? You shouldnt 'dumb down' the production section. Thats the point, it was a fantastic (rainbows n all) place to great knowledge, now its just a repost troll haven. :!:

Yes, sort of. Maybe you shouldn't look here for great production advice.

I don't think that it is a matter of dumbing it down, rather, you've become so knowledgeable that the information exchanged here is already known to you. In fact, you may have even learned it here in the first place! I don't know though. I've only been here since late '07, so maybe I don't have the perspective that you do. But I haven't seen the tectonic shift that you elites seem to have seen.

The fact of the matter is that I still learn stuff here. I am annoyed by the datxision posts, but I'll take the good with the bad if I have to.

This forum is actually a lot better than many other ones...

But I don't really usually come here for production advice. Yet, I have learned much production advice here...

Perhaps it is in the act of doing nothing that you achieve everything.

OK, I have been reading the Tao Te Ching lately...

But still...

When I joined up here the place still had that new car smell I never saw the tectonic shift either tbh. Maybe you are on to something that enough time passes that your perspective changes rather than the forum itself. I don't usually read the daxsicion posts either maybe that is why I don't feel the same as others but seriously why would I open a thread where you can tell it's going to be migraine inducing from the title alone? I put up Alpaca pics in here so have a lot of the people in this thread. I ain't sorry about it. It is more than just production advice, some of us just have a tab open during the late night sessions on the weekend or whatever. You might read it on Monday morning and not get the right idea about it. And Depone I gotta bone to pick with you, you say people think this is a joke and big names don't come on here anymore so your solution is to not come on here yourself? WAHT THE FUCK? And I don't take this forum all that seriously, it's just a fucking forum get over yourselves.

i know big names come here and lurk alot for a fact, just cause they don't post doesn't mean they're not here
i spent a good couple years barely posting and lurking and look at me now.
what it comes down to me is people have become lazy and abused the forum system starting the same threads when there is something the same or similar like a few posts down, but they come on fresh registered no posts and just hit new topic which is where i feel a flood of noobies (not a bad thing) not so much trolls, but on the flip would be nice to have a sep forum like lifted to have advanced discussions and not same basic shit. i'm all for anyone being able to read it, but not post when first starting out. no offense to serox or some of the other guys who post what seems like good advice but have yet to hear a piece of music from you to judge if you apply it or just have book and reading smarts. my 2 cents

I have heard your words and your concerns, and now you will stand in silence, and I, Ketamine for my part will speak. And you will listen...

As many of us I left Dogs On Acid partially because I grew tired of D&B but production-wise, mainly because that forum was nothing but hatred, in-jokes and arguments. DSF was such a refreshing breath of air 2 yrs ago, so helpful. I learned more here in months than I ever had on DOA in years and had fun doing it!

Unfortunately in the last six months something has happened and this place is de-evolving (is that a word?) into the same thing. And it sucks.

Elitism is killing DSF.

Stop it.

It's not just the DSF. I don't even really want to get into it but basically Dubstep is coming or has come of age. Some like the more "matured" sound but I have to be honest I enjoyed it more when it was fresh. And when this place started it was like freshman day at college, everyone was happy to be here and very respectful. Almost too much respect tbh but now fuck, there is NO respect. I said I didn't want to get into it so I'll leave it at that but missing days gone by for sure! :u:

If you want to make the forum better, start your own better threads.

There are as many complaining threads as there are as good ones these days.

i have but one saying to add to this -- all things change

"in the beginning, mountains are mountains, and streams are streams. then, mountains are not mountains, and streams are not streams. finally, mountains are again mountains, and streams are again streams."

guys, this place and this scene is what we make of it -- don't spend your time saying "goddamn it, this ain't what i wanted, this is shit!"

instead take it for what it is and add your energy to it. if you are tired of DSF, fine -- but don't complain about it and add negative energy which takes away from the efforts of those of us who are trying to enjoy it. yes there are stupid sub genres and bullshit elitists-- they make me laugh.

Yeah I am defo on board with your sentiments. One of the kids that now plays dubstep in town was tell me he wanted to sit down with me so I could show him examples of all the different subgenres of dubstep :u: I told him it was irrelevant and told him to play what he likes. It's already happened really it's just that people won't stand up and say this is this and that is that and clearly outline it. Might as well now at least we could cut down on 50 page threads of moaning on the main forum.

no idea. a very good friend told it to me, and i find it helps me make sense of the times when things aren't right. there seems to be a deep truth about the nature of things in it. not sure if makes any sense to anyone else.
