The sample pack was nice; really easy to work with. I've come up with something cool

Yep - open season! But you have 4 days... which reminds me:

Haack: what time (& timezone) is the deadline on Tuesday?

if you get off to a shitty start you just get totally uninspired to do anything with it, I was stoked on my idea originally but just got super lazy and I havn't really expanded on it much ill try to turn something but whooo knows, i just havnt been spending any time on it :(

Same thing happened to me w/ dsf22 - had a great start, got overzealous and turned it into mudcakes in no time flat, didn't get back around to trying to wrap it up until it was too late.

Might I recommend starting from scratch and doing something a lot more minimal?

Just some incentive for anybody still working on their tracks:

Whatever you happen to put together, I guarantee you it will be better than mine :)

I got of to a quite a good start, but have stalled a bit now. Have a hiphopish vibe going on and a more hypnotising one that don't really fit together. Have to make choices and finish this!

Also second Alpha's question about timezones and deadline, let's make it clear what the deadline is before it's reached this time!

Having quite a bit of fun with this. Not the kinda samples I usually work with at all but nothing a bit of process->bounce->load->process->bounce->load->process->bounce->load->PLAYWITHALLTHEFILTERS! won't fix... ;)

That said, is it cheating if the samples are so utterly mangled as to be unrecognizable? Looping wave cycles and shit?

Hmm. Wonder if it's cheating to mangle a sample down to a sine wave, load it back into Sampler and add some FM....

nahhhhhhhhhhh course not

I always stay away from the osc in sampler, since it is, well an oscillator..but it's a fine line not something to worry to much about. All for fun and learning anyway.

Yeah, but so is any LFO. You can't actually hear the oscillator itself so I reckon it doesn't count. ;)

Good point. Always thought the osc in sampler was mixed in with the signal. But if it only modulates then you are totally right.

ah yessss, checked the manual..it's for modulation only. Still on time to try it out in this comp
