Well you guys could always get wives that know a thing or two about accounting. I didn't pay any taxes last year and my wife worked half the year and we managed to get 7 grand back. I got a pair of hs80m's to show for it :D

heh my tax check bought me a couple new toys and is sustaining my cigarette and 12 pack a day diet
just saying last thing most young people need is new debt without knowing what it can cause
interest is a bitch

Overall, don't really know what to think about this scheme.

Firstly, inflation is like 2%, so if it's for less than a year it's negligable to the price really, you'll be saving a couple of squids. Overall, I don't know if this scheme is designed to help students or not, but I don't really care. He's giving you all the information, as far as I can tell, there's no small print, so I don't see the point in slagging him off. If people need instruments but need to pay it off in installments, it may be better for those who can't afford to dish out a large amount of cash in one go. This is the problem with the world - we blame the loans on the banks, but it's the people who couldn't do their research, or read the fine print, got greedy and took the loans who are just as responsible... and then we look towards socialism as an answer  ...

The people that took these loans definitely share blame in this, but the bank's behavior was predatory, you cannot doubt that.

I definately wouldn't doubt it. You open up shortlist mag in London, and there's a whole page about how taking out a loan is going to change your life, and you're going to afford that new lambourghini you've been saving up for while your ex-wife is sucking curbs for traces of coke and your kids winded up in a glue factory. The government shouldn't allow this, which I agree with but then it is impinging on our freedom to assess unfiltered information. Ultimately, I would never take out a loan unless it was a student loan, or for a business venture, and even then I would consider it. But seriously people, read up on the fucking financial situation, and stop contributing to the cause. Oil wouldn't be around anymore if people didn't actually demand it, etc ,etc ,etc /capitalist rant.

Really can't doubt it when the bank looks at the borrower's income and knows that the loan can't be repaid at that income level. It is just madness. You don't have to go to full scale marching in the streets with ballistic nuclear missiles communism just to regulate banks. They are business organizations that exist at the pleasure of the state, they can be regulated.

I don't want to get involved in the whole economics debate going on...what I will say (in case it is useful info for anyone else) is that I gave both Digital Village and Dolphin Music a call and Dolphin definitely won in the helpfulness and explanation stakes.

Personally if I do use this offer I'll only be going for low-cost items that I categorically know I can afford to make repayments on. So for Spectrasonics Trillion for example, I'd be paying about the same a month as I would for a fairly cheap night out having a few beers. I think I can sacrifice a night out a month in order to buy something a little fruity for the studio.

I'm gagging for a bit of Trillian as well, used to have Trilogy a few years ago but I sold the disk and the puter broke...

Hey so why don't u skip a night out drinking beers every month, and save up for this, rather than having hard working people pay your interest. Why be a drain on those around you?

I might still do exactly that... if you look you'll notice I said if I do use this offer.
