Glitch.

If you're using renoise, or any sample editing software that lets you easily copy and paste bits of the sample, copy a small part of your drum hit, and paste it repeatedly in one spot, it makes a beautiful glitchy sound.

OK i'm gonna repost my fl wobble tutorial in here, cos the original thread is waaaaay back down the list.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
£10 Bag FL6/7/8 wobble tutorial
please note i do not condone the use of the wobble, this information is used at the reader's own risk of ridicule.

I've seen lots of people asking how to make a wobble bass in FL.
Here's how in 4 steps:

1. Click channels>Add one>3xOSC (or any other synth)
Image

2. Assign the synth a FX channel and put a low pass filter on it, right click cutoff knob>edit events
Image

3. Click button in top left corner of edit events window then tools>LFO (Keyboard shortcut ALT-O)
Image

4. Turn the range and value knobs up a small amount and right click the speed knobs to regulate the speed of the WUBWUBWUB.
Image

This method will work with any VSTi, not just the 3xOSC. Tweak the phase on the LFO window to make the wobble syncopated.

With FL-native synths, eg 3OSC, simsynth, sytrus, ts404, you can also go to the INS section on the synth and right click the 'filter cutoff' knob and follow the process stated above.
Another way is to create automation clips, although this isn't as precise and easy when you want to do complex wobbles that change speed.

Bear in mind you can right click most knobs in FL and put an LFO on it.
You can wobble the pitch, resonance, volume, portamento, the possibilities really are infinite.

that and mess with pitch delay and other effects on that same single sample
or you can be a bit lazy and http://illformed.org/blog/glitch/
also that vst is a good starting point to understand how to make some of those aphex/v snares etc type stuff, but using your fav fxs etc

Theres a section of sub bass, use that as your foundations and build a house on it!
Check out the free VSTs "Subhuman" and "SubfreaK" if you just want instant subbass

For a deep sounding kick. Put a filter on any kick, set it to a minimum of 80Htz to a max of 250Htz then use compression at x15 and attack of 25ms.

If you need a funky sounding bass line then download some free games off the internet that come in zip files. Most of them with have a folder with all the sounds stored as wavs that can be used in tracks with a little modification (distort, lfo, reverb...ect)
