Now, No i havn't heard 'Folk' music before and to be honest, i just looked it up and im damn glad i never! Its utter crap and if i was to ask my friends what folk music is half of them wouldn't know either so keep your big mouths shut.
What makes it official someone asked, well for starters if it was to be listed in iTunes as a genre that would be good enough for me

I liked it how the internet radio station Pandora classified songs by its features of production, tempo, timbre etc I'm extremely gutted its still not available in the UK! That had a lot of dubstep on which surprised me as back in 2006 when I was using it it wasn't exactly massively well known (it was referred to on wikipedia as a 'microgenre' lmao)
It had stuff like this on:
