that's a pretty negative way to react. Who cares if he hasn't heard the dillinja track, not everybody was a jungle head before they became a dubstep producer (I speak for myself as well). If anything, I'd say it's more interesting that when a dubstep producer draws influence from outside the confines of jungle/dnb/grime/dub. Lewis B is a good example of this, I bet he listens to tons of jazz and soul records, and probably not so much jungle.
speaking of which do you enjoy metal? i hear it too much in your dubstep and i'd hate to be wrong.
Some. I used to listen to metal years ago, but not anymore.

In the mix, that tune's noted as coming out on one of his labels. Alright tune though, some really deep frequencies.

REALLY ?! you really think that having standards is going to ruin this music ? you don't think it might be uneducated producers making disposable music without any kind of substance that might be watering things down ?

Yea I honestly believe egos and pretentiousness are enough to kill a scene. Can you explain/define "uneducated" and "disposable" and "substance"? If I read you correctly, you're judging a producer's level of education by his productions? bit pretentious, no? And to me, disposable, and substance are words of opinion, honestly all music is disposable and will be disposed of and forgotten at some point. Frankly, I bet Mala is just as annoyed as you and many others with the direction dubstep has taken but the difference between you guys and Mala is that he doesn't sit around and complain about it all day. He doesn't call out the producers he hates. He just pushes the sound he digs and praises the artists he likes. It's that positive atmosphere that attracted me to dubstep years ago.

The only contributions many of the people on these boards make is the constant whining and complaining. All this does is create an unwelcome atmosphere that screams hostility and elitism. This is pretentiousness. This is how dubstep is represented to the rest of the world who reads these forums.

Lol and I'm not defending Excision. I'm defending the thought that a lot producers need to be looked at a little more closely before writing them off as something they're not.

Uneducated: clearly i was talking about the fact that he knew nothing about oldskool jungle, not his actual level of schooling . if you're part of any field that goes back years and years, i would hope you'd know a little bit of the roots and culture. Angels Fell is a well known tune. IM JUST SAYIN

Disposable : Refers to the fact that there isn't much shelf life to most dubstep nowadays, and most of the drum and bass that's come out in the last several years for that matter. Any genre that devolves into a dick waving contest of WHOS GOT THE BIGGEST MOST FILTHIEST MOST GARBAGE TRUCK SOUNDING DROP OF ALL TIME, is destined to become stale and predictable. Sound familiar ? Tomorrow when someone makes a drop filthier than the last Excision tune, the masses move on. To them, each tune and producer are like tissues. Temporary, replaceable, disposable

Substance : Has to do with what your tune is made of, obviously. If the drums are exactly the same in every single tune (most dubtep and dnb) and all it comes down to is making a slightly different robotic sounding bassline with little to no musicality, then yeah your shit has no substance

basically what we're arguing about is you're saying people's attitudes ruin music, what im saying is that SHITTY MUSIC RUINS GOOD MUSIC....

I'm pretty sure the point that numbernin6 is making is that you are spreading all sorts of negativity and shittyness based on your OPINIONS, when you speak with this bullshit tone of authority, using words like uneducated/disposable/substance/etc. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but it's pretentious as hell when you present it that way. Do you really not grasp the difference between saying "I don't like this music" vs. "This music is shit/worthless/disposable/etc."? You may feel that excision's music is disposable, but that's your opinion, and regardless of how much experience and history you might have with the scene, it comes down to the fact that your opinion is no more or less valuable than anyone else's, cuz it's just an opinion.

And again, the point has already been made - the people that bring something positive to the scene are the folks who work to support and create more of what they like, not the people who spread their whiny pretentious bullshit on the internet (or out in life for that matter). If you don't like the direction dubstep has taken, then DO something about it - write tunes, record mixes, put on shows, whatever... but constantly bitching about what you don't like just creates a negative, ugly vibe. And ultimately, if "the masses" that you so proudly sneer at don't dig the same stuff that you dig, then tough shit, you can't enforce culture.

Nothing wrong with an occassional moan (especially if it makes talented producers writing noise feel a bit guilty and write more real music) but its well OTT on here and its infectious. I've been suprised by a few producers this week for sure but I think those producers should allow the twitter chat, their best chance of reaching out to the pretentious elitists is through covert means - get those prics buying your records under aliases then a few years down the line when they're giving you abuse saying you should sound more like your alter ego you can let them know just how full of shit they really are

I understand the point you and he are trying to make . in fact, if you knew me in real life you would know i do plenty various scenes. i'm not a dj, i pay to go to shows. i fucking pay my cover at the door,i buy drinks at the bar, i tip the bartenders. i buy music. i support real art. i've been a drummer for almost 15 years. i spread knowledge to people, i play good music for people who have never heard it befoe. so really just go on with all that nonsense.

if you guys knew how to read posts in order this whole internet arguing thing would be alot easier. basically Excision didnt know about the tune ANGELS FELL which is a big time classic jungle tune. I thought he looked like an idiot in that tweet which is PUBLIC and i thoiught it was hilarious Loefah kinda let him know "um actually i was talking bout the Dillinja tune." So then immediately somebody comes in calling us all pretentious assholes who are "ruining this scene" with our attitudes. And I'm like nah I'm sorry but actually, wack music is going to ruin this scene. Just like wack music infilitrated and took over dnb. So then some one specifically asks me to define my concepts of "wack music" etc. which i did , quite articulately i might add. and yet still. im trying to explain myself. I'm not one of thse people making threads to moan about the state of blah blah blah. i only checked this thread cuz i was interested to see what he was sending loefah. and then i saw his tweet about the Angels Fell, and i busted the fuck out laughing cuz Loefah kinda served him right back. i pointed that out, which is pure comedy and the forum should enjoy, and yall are really taking it personal like somehow I'M going to ruin dubstep, not formulaic cookiecutter tunes. To each their own ...

honestly , go listen to excision i dont give a fuck. but learn to read , please? this thread aint that complicated, and you dont know jack about me in real life, ok?

it's a fact, wack music kills scenes. And if you think im being pretentious that's great. I feel it's more like having standards.

really?! you declare something a "fact" when it's based entirely on your opinion... obviously this discussion is hopeless, so let's just agree to disagree.
