'I Don't Move' is very well produced and got my vote without even having any real competition! The arpeggio reminds me of those old trance tracks from the early 90ies, and the song makes good use of Polyiblits good low pass filter..
All the others seemed to use the same boring pad presets.
I almost voted for 'X Equals A Over B' but it went badly shit after the fantastic intro...
Thanks for competing everyone. I may actually take part in the next round.

Just thought I'd say I didn't use any presets at all in this :s I thought the second one down was a clear winner by miles. Only one I felt had any real production value and the melodies were tight as well. These comps are always really interesting because it shows just how different peoples tastes are and how different people look for different things. Quite surprising actually every time.

Impressive synth work in that second one. Dreamy. Deserves to win.

I just wanted to throw this out there.
I understand how people think that the break makes it "too easy". I don't know if this would fly, but I could just offer up the "composite mix" of the recording so that there are no easy one-off's to use.
But if it's agreed to not use a break for the next one, then that's fine with me. Whether there's just one or 2 samples (like a thud and a snap) or if the drums have to be synthed can be debated by you all. I like giving up some breaks for free use, but if it's not what the people want, then so be it. I don't take part in these cause I'm really self-conscientious about my music... so I abstain from any position.

Personally man I love the breaks you've given us but also feel if this is gonna be the vst comp if should really all be done with the chosen synth. If you felt like uploading a monthly break for us to all play with and use in our production then I'm sure a lot of people would greatly appreciate it though. Wouldn't want to lose such a great source of nicely played and recorded breaks!

Yeah yeah yeah... grouse grouse grouse... (there's a San Ho joke in there too but I won't go there.

)
You people realize that when the Heavy Ninjas around here have their way, this contest will only allow you to use one
Pong video game noise generator plugin and no drum kits, breaks, or anything else "easy," right?
You think the Korg Prophecy kit and Polyiblit is
limited... some of you are gonna be in for a shock.
But maybe that's what's needed, eh? So far it's looking like 'Polylag' is the tune to beat.

Nice one for hosting this Alphacat. I would have to say there are some great tracks here and out of just a few samples I am amazed at what people have come up with. Lockin in with my vote now!

Good to have you aboard Haack!
And now... it's really tight - will it be another run-off like last time, or will it be down to the wire?
