Re: L.A Noire
i did a glitch where i all the sudden went flying in the air when i was driving
blazen the raisin
Re: L.A Noire
kinda disappointed with it tbh, kinda feels like they were trying too hard to make a point by specifically not letting you do any GTA style stuff and the result of that is i dont see myself picking it up again once im done with the story
Re: L.A Noire
I don't think they specifically tried not to let you do gta things, I DO think they were trying to make a unique game with an amazing storyline that pulls you in.Words wrote:kinda disappointed with it tbh, kinda feels like they were trying too hard to make a point by specifically not letting you do any GTA style stuff and the result of that is i dont see myself picking it up again once im done with the story
Re: L.A Noire
For me this is a very well made but average game.
Dont get me wrong, I think the narrative and tech behind it is cracking, however its the same thing every single case. Go to scene, look for clues (its never the beer bottle) question bait people chase them, next case.
The driving parts inbetween are barely necessary and feel a bit strapped on. More or less everything is skippable (except interegation) so the requirment of much skill is null and void.
I like this game, I am enjoying it, I like the story and the forward thinking ideas Rockstar/Bondi have come up with, but it lacks alot of gameplay for me unfortunatly.

Re: L.A Noire
thats just the vibe i was getting. like whats up with how pedestrians glitch through your vehicle all the time? that ruins the immersion for me more than letting the cop actually hit them wouldwobbles wrote:I don't think they specifically tried not to let you do gta things, I DO think they were trying to make a unique game with an amazing storyline that pulls you in.Words wrote:kinda disappointed with it tbh, kinda feels like they were trying too hard to make a point by specifically not letting you do any GTA style stuff and the result of that is i dont see myself picking it up again once im done with the story
they dont stick to their guns either, one second theyre trying to add to the realism by not letting you see how much ammo you have left in a gunfight then the next you're in a car and theres a GPS on the screen
you can feel how close they were to making a great game but in the end its just alright. not really a gamer and only buy/play like one game a year so trust i really wanted to love it
Re: L.A Noire
Nah I def feel you on the immersion that's an issue with me too, like I said I experience graphical glitches and what not

Re: L.A Noire
personally i love anything with a gritty vibe and L.A noire nails it perfectly. Won't give out any spoilers but by the end of the homicide desk you'll know what i mean. the atmosphere and detail at the crime scenes are perfect.
Re: L.A Noire
trying to play the entire game in black and white mode.
Really fucks with your eyes after a good session.
About 6 hours in... fairly decent.... rockstar has done better but I applaud the innovative aspects.

Re: L.A Noire
about 4 cases into homicide, game is sick a few little glitches but overall i'm really enjoying it... story and characters have been brilliant, easily one of my favourite games along with red dead.

Re: L.A Noire
really, really weird how much Aaron Staton looks like Cole Phelps.... really opens up the door for actors to star in games like these, which is exciting and annoying at the same time
overall, i haven't played the game, but after watching the let's plays i'm very impressed, first of all by the faces, second by the gameplay... the clues/interrogation is amazing!
leave it to rockstar to always be one step ahead

Re: L.A Noire
sort of spoilers!
i was really disappointed with it. finished the main story in 3 days of light gaming. the ending was pretty poor, and the fact that none of your choices or your performance in any of the cases (ie questioning or who you ultimately choose to charge with the crime) actually effect the outcome of anything in the story, just feels cheap. most, if not all of the later more in depth cases, the suspects are nothing to do with it so whoever you charge is innocent anyway.
once i finished the homicide cases and solved the 'big mystery' (which was quite obvious) i wanted to get a refund, once you finish each desk you realise every choice you made throughout the cases was pointless and wouldn't have made any difference. huge let down, i really enjoyed the game until this dawned on me and from then on it just felt pointless, i didnt care how well i did in questioning and cases cause i knew whatever happened i couldn't fail at the game and whoever i was gonna arrest would be nothing to do with the crime. you cant fail unless you die or lose a suspect, and even then you just respawn a few minutes back or start the chase again (which are piss easy).

i agree, i was a little disappointed. its the first time for a long time ive gone out a bought a brand new game, normally give it 6 months till its half price or second hand.
didnt think it was long enough, thought the interrogation was too hard yet if you flop the interrogation and charge the wrong guy it doesnt matter. i think it needed more time spent on gameplay rather then just how good it looked.
the "freeroaming" element (with the hidden cars, badges and that site-seeing none sense) felt cheap, rushed and a bit pointless. i know the game isnt supposed to be free roaming but it would really have benefitted from this being added. having an apartment/house to go to. having to go back to the station to pick up new cases, food, drink, day cycles, all this would have made for a much richer gaming experience. i suppose i've just been spoiled by red dead and gta.
still, it was a good play and i hope that they keep a steady stream of reasonably priced DLC to get a bit more play out of what wasnt a particularly great value for money game...
