All looks a bit "oh mai gOd coNsPiRaCee"... but who knows. Some people just love a good conspiracy.
Tend to get put off by any site with "truth" in the name too

Re: WikiLeaks
Yes I have, there are plenty of books on it if you're interested. and no it's not governments who own them, it's corporations. Completely different. Regardless, mainstream media is a slave to TV ratings, and wikileaks have piqued the interest of the people, rightfully so. News organizations are made up of millions of individuals all who have personal aspirations, creeds, and political opinions. Believe it or not, some of them are on the side of the people. Not every news network is faux news.gwa wrote:and i take it you have looked into who owns what then?

This soooo hard, in conjunction with corporations.noam wrote:i reckon its more the other way round... the media in some respects owns the government
Except with the initial reaction of the media you'd think otherwise, but it's just hubris.
Re: WikiLeaks
and you can't see the connection between the govt. and the corporations? sorry but if the the govt want something silenced then they will and if they want something to go OTT in the public domain then they will.

There's other places to get news than TVgwa wrote:nope, i turned off from that shit along time ago
Ignorance is bliss, I suppose. Not a sentiment I ever felt.
Re: WikiLeaks
@ GWA
nah man i disagree, somethings are kept too secret for media outlets to know about, but often i think the case is that where individuals are involved, you get all sorts of personal politics being the reason that stories get out
numerous harmful scandals against the government itself seem to prove this point
obviously you can pose the question as to whose 'really' in charge and i accept at some level the possibility that there are higher powers than government in a way, but so much of it is hearsay and conjecture and theres so little correlation between one alternative viewpoint of politics and another that its really difficult for me to subscribe to any - the one that does it the most for me is the banking sector since a lot of it is actually public knowledge just not widely publicised
regards wikileaks anyway, can you think of a reason the government would want this info to be known? which government specifically? cos theres so many stories being released by them i reckon it'd be hard to pinpoint one particular agenda that it all suits... the only one i can think of is literally from an independant free media POV but im not closed on the matter at all

Re: WikiLeaks
i'm sorry but the amount of shit the mainstream media churns out is unfathomable, i genuinely don't believe that this wiki leaks talk is as legit as people are making it out to be.
gary mckinnon gets crucified for going fucking up nasa and reading something he shouldn't. hell i'm sure you know the deal about that... but these wiki leaks people are getting away scott free.. you can fuck right off if you're saying that tptb do not have a hand in this.
seriously.
ignorance is bliss and i've been leading a much happier life since i stopped watching tv and reading mainstream news. you and i both know that at the end of the day there is ties there.

Re: WikiLeaks
Well private Bradley manning is facing the harsh wrath of the law, so It's not like they got away scott free. Assange didn't hack anything himself, he just pooled it together. Gary Mckinnon didn't have insurance.
You can torrent it all online (I have a copy), however it's encrypted. It's said that if shit goes down there will be a tweet with the decryption key.

And lol @ the US wanting/causing/helping the Cables to come out.
Transcript of the Department of State's daily press briefing says differently, as does Hilary Clinton's scrambling.

Re: WikiLeaks
This has so much in common with The Pirate Bay its unreal. Check this;
Gov doesn't like company.
Gov incriminates company but then fails to get anything so pressures other big businesses to abandon them.
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/05/31/piratebay_raid/
http://www.csmonitor.com/World/terroris ... rate-Party
Company hides in sweden.
Gov makes new laws/accusations that make leaders of these groups responsible.
Company goes on the run.
Gov screws company. I suppose this yet is yet to be seen, but in other news I've found the perfect hiding place once its finished.
