Although there's def exceptions posted in here. If you hear about somebody being a dick second hand, consider the context of the situation. If you're going to get in somebody's face like a paparazzi (even to tell them how much you like them), some people don't take kindly to that. If you meet somebody and know they have a rep for being a douche, realize you don't have to tell them how much their music means to you within the first 15 secs of talking to them. The only people who will wanna have a beer with you after that is either somebody who is too nice to say fuckoff, or somebody who needs their ego stroked further.

very glad skream was such a nice approachable guy when i talked to him. my world would have been shattered if he was a dickhead.
very sad kanye turned out to be such an egotistical monster and ruined one of my favorite albums (college dropout) along with the artist i was proudest to call a chicagoan.
can't be fucked listening to anything he makes anymore because he bothers me so deeply.

+1 for deadmau5. I thought some of his stuff was really decent. Then I read some interviews and realized he was the classic case of 'kid who got made fun of so he had to prove his dick was bigger than all the frat boys'. Ironically now his music is primarily consumed by the same douchy frat boys who probably made fun of him in the beginning...
It depends though. For example, I thought Zomby had some alright tunes, wasn't particularly blown away by them, but didn't hate them. Then i read him blowing off some of his fans here and figured I'd rather not support someone who treated his fans that way. (about the thing of him not showing up for shows, and then getting his friend to play the show... Honestly??? Sounds like a complete dick to me)
Edit: on a side note, Sharmaji I'm most likely seeing you in Edmonton... Don't be too mean to the kid who's desperately trying to sneak backstage to say hi

step correct wrote:Does an Artist's personality/attitude have an effect on the way you view their music? Say, if someone makes phenomenal tunes but you meet them and they are a complete dick.. would you be less inclined to support them or play/buy their stuff?
Sorry if this is a bit random but I think about this a lot and over the years. Especially when I was younger and into DnB, I would meet these guys that were practically my heroes and some of them were real jerks IRL. After which I tended to stop buying their vinyls and listening. Keep in mind this is when I was about 17-20 and a lot more impressionable. (I'm in my early 30's now lol)
So in short, be cool to the people that support you.. I guess?

When I was younger it probably would meant a lot to me if I met my favorite artist and he behaved like a dick. Once I was at scanner`s dj gig and I asked him for an autograph after his show, all though I wasnt a really big fan of his... He wrote something witty about me being drunk. Anyway nowadays I really dont care how nice an artist is or isnt. If his music is good thats enough.

One word: Zomby.
Acts like a cock but he is truly a musical genius.
In the words of Courtney Taylor-Taylor "I would put up with more shit from him than anyone else, just because of the important albums he has made".
