i think for the purposes of these awards a new artist is someone who has had their first dubstep (or the stuff in the 120-140bpm awards) release this year. most producers don't just pop up out of nowhere and people will know them from unreleased tunes via forums and the like, or from music from other genres

This has really shown me how out of touch with dubstep I've been this year :s

Definitely, had me in stiches the entire time. Hearing some 80's classics getting wheeld up with chef on the mic saying things like "Wheel dat one up rudebwoy, thats an original WILE OUT RIDDIM' had me on the floor.
