This is a quality idea, but I don't think I can quite pull it off.
I'm too anal about refining my ideas.. that said, I'll have a go! :)

Good luck everyone. :D

Thats what they say this year, but I see it as more of a guide line, than set in stone rule.
Yeah I know. Tbh I would be extatic if I finished a 4 song EP. Hell I'd be happy if I made one good tune in February. I like the challenge tho.
If you finish more than you normally do in a month, than I think I would class that as a success. Just go for it imo.

@ Decklyn, it ain't impossible, like you said you would have to change the way you work for this, and that may help you in the future. Imagine if you could crank out tunes in 4 hours all the time, and you were still happy with them. As said before, just go for it.

@ Everyone; JUST GO FOR IT!!!

I just made a post on my blog about how to re-program the axiom pads so I can use them with drum rack.
let's do it. Time to start playing more tunes out like a live performance.
Time to get out my launchpads and nanokontrols and just rip it every chance I get

sounds like a lot of fun, i'll be participating

feels/reminds me of the nerdy hackathon sessions of the programming world and i'll be approaching it as such

none of this planning :6:

I tried to stop producing until febrauary to really build up some creativity. Did not work.

I'd say that's precisely the point.
Well for me at least.
And economizing my workflow/trying to get to a point where I really do learn that certain projects really don't demand my attention like others do, and learning when to move on

def going to try this, even if you don't finish all 14 you'll have more than you make a month normally (for me at least) and i think it's good to force yourself to practice.

How is everyone going to approach this???

I'm thinking on the first of feb (if I got the whole day free) to lock myself away in the studio, and try to start at least 3 track, with some skin, and bones to them. See If I can finish one the first day. Then try to soldier on making a few wips, a day, and try to finish at least one wip a day.

So yeah, my plan is to go at it full force, that way if I don't meet my own targets, I might meet the targets that have been set.

Also im playing on making composition, my main focus, for a few reasons;

1. It seems to be the main focus with this event.
2. I don't get bogged down with mixdown.
3. I don't end up with a polished load of nothing.
4. I can go back, and improve tracks, after this is over.

Sound design while be a close seconds, as it's the thing I love most about making music.

I going to try put in 4+ hours a day, and on some day try to do 12+. I reckon I could do that, I make stuff every day as it is now, and put in about 1-12 hours a day, a few months ago I had a day were I did not do any thing to do withmaking music, and it felt weird. atm I normal can find 2-4 hours in the day for music.

also I am thinking, of abstaining from making music for the last week of this month. to get my idea tank full, but that could be hard, because i'm addicted to making music...

Anyone doing a concept album? or got any other interesting plans?
-q- Going to start collecting samples TODAY… build up a library… 3 day record/trim marathon… :6:

How to make a dead genre alive again and call it something pretentious.

I've been sorting out my gear, and computer for this, and now I'm ready to go, now I just wait for february.

I got lots of ideas now, and am ready to burst. My overall idea now is a mish mash of styles, every track being unique, and having a different focus, but to flow from track to track (my repressed arty side talking)

Lots of you talking about getting the guitar, I might just do that, but I ain't played for some time, so might just leave it for another day.

To the people going this, are you going to upload your tracks as you do them, or wait to the end of the month, or keep them to your self? Also any one playing on giving theirs away for free? I still can't decide what im going to do with it...

You forward to see what comes out of this place from this, and keep me update, with how it's going for you.

(Time 303 my favourite)

I'm going to write a vocal album, using tracks from the creative commons acapella pool.

Thats my concept/inspiration.
