Yeah this pretty much. Or more specifically doing it without being cheesy and generic. This is everyone's weak link really. If it's not right now it will be once you've sorted your other problems out.

I create frequency rich music which is making mixdowns and eqing a total bitch for me.
As much as I'm confident mixing a track down to my liking, I still don't feel as comfortable as I'd like.

I'm pretty decent at drums, sound design, structuring, finding my feet with mixing down, can compose decent enough b-lines I just feel like tracks lack some finishing touch of harmonies and chord progressions.

Beats, I can't make really good sounding flowing beats. They just fragmented.

oh god this.

also i find that i love drums but hate doing synths. i've put so much love into my drums only to have a boring shit synth line many a time. i keep telling myself to pick up my bass guitar and find a melody that way (been playing bass for 12 years) but i constantly end up using my keyboard/controller. one of those "don't need directions, we'll get there" situations. retarded.

what's worse is with ableton 9 i can actually plug my guitar in and convert my performance to midi so i don't even have to bother with transcribing that much. still don't do it :u:

Definitely getting the right notes out of my head and into the daw in a timely manner... probably due to my lack of piano theory knowledge.
