Skrillex does have a cool bass but I dont see why everybody wants to reproduce it. If you want to sound like skrillex then you may want to try looking into the other aspects of his tracks and then create a bass of your own and then you will have a skrillex style track but with your own unique bass and people will probably enjoy that more instead of a replica of skrillex.

Sorry if talked about in other threads, but I suspect Skrillex is using guitar rig for some of his growler distorted sounds?

its not all his bass sounds that i like, most of them are really basic and he just knows how to use them effectively, but its just that one bass of his,

yeah and what people also dont realize is its hard as hell to re create most of these synths, exspecially from datsik and excision....and skrillex, the amount of effects and EQing on top of some of these is ridiculous....i know.


also....yeah that chomp sound is freaking awesome. why is it always the half filtered barks that are so hard.

So is Skrillex/Spor supposed to be like the epitamy of bass modulation? im not saying it because i like their music, but because they really do modulate some interesting sounds. Skrillex is not my favorite producer but he is the one that got me into dubstep (yes i know; weak) but thats only because his first gig was in my city. I wonder if some other dude is going to show up & modulate some new sound that has yet to be discovered.

to be honest, on the final, skrill nor most of the synth heavy hitters don't modulate, most of them re-sample all day long for their interesting sounds.

The FM8 is a fuckin hard synth to program. Theres so much shit going on with it. But its his ax of choice.
I know it can make some mind bending sounds but you really have to get in there.

Just put up a Dubstep tutorial for people who want help getting heavier/grittier B lines

Dude, I'm not going to lie. I've had a copy of FM8 for awhile now, but I pretty much gave up after the first session. That video u posted actually motivated me to learn it
