I'm only following a few guys, and most of them are friends. But I certainly don't plan on following people for the sake of stroking their ego after they stroke mine.

I follow good music .

some people just follow everyone in the hope they will get people to follow them back.. then they delete a whole bunch of people when they hit the limit on there free soundcloud account...IMO its cheap.. if your musics good then people will follow you.. dont beg it.

to be honest, kilo beats is right, there are people on soundcloud from whatever genre u make that will be searching the cloud for something fresh, so eventually they will find u, and if ur music is good they follow u...

but to be honest, its got to with time more then anything. i was lucky i joined, around the time when soundcloud went public, so ive been on there a while now,i have a lot of randoms, but it means that more genuine followers are more likely to find me through my presence on soundcloud.

also playing the game of favouriting etc, interacting wth soundcloud helps too, at first i didnt bother, but now i am following some decent artists whose tastes are
aligned with mine, so finding tracks to comment on isnt as hard or as frustrating as it maybe once was, also this build bridges between artists which is important too.

I do get some guys following me over and over. now if someone follows me more than twice i just block them altogether.

My biggest problem with soundcloud is the amount of people that follow me and have never listened to a single one of my tunes. I recently unfollowed everyone in my follow list if I couldn't remember a good tune they'd made or if I didn't own one of their tunes, it means I'm only following producers I properly respect.

After reading the whole thread i realized that some people really enjoying my music for real. I only have those famous pepole on my follow list, like Datsik etc. That means im a warrior and those who follow me is my amry..... or whatever.
Im "happy" that i have the same problem, when i read that "ppl follow so you 'follow' 'em back" it all came up to me.

Don't see why something like soundcloud followers would bother you so much lol

I'll only ever follow someone on Soundcloud if they post comments that let me know that they're actually listening to, and enjoying, my music. You can tell the difference between the spammers and the genuine kids by whether or not their comments have a direct reference to a characteristic of your tracks. If they've commented on my tracks like so and they don't immediately unfollow, I'll almost always follow back, regardless of whether or not I'm a big fan of their tunes

I don't follow a lot of people, because I'd like to think that my followers are following me because they like my music, rather than they continue to follow me because I follow them. Most of the people I follow are either friends or people whose music I really like.

There are a few people who I'm following on soundcloud who I really have no connection to, but I don't want to unfollow them because that would just sort of be a dick thing to do....
