I'd seriously retract from that statement. You can't judge one by there looks, how they dress or what not. If you probably haven't noticed or known by now the dubstep scene in vancouver is all about community... That means expect all walks of life to be part of it. To make a foolish comment like that tells me that your pretty new the scene, otherwise you would totally be in the "know" by now on whats up and whats happening in the "community".

i dunno man. dubstep is the result of the evolution and melding of various electronic music genres. I've been a dedicated listener for a long time now. starting with house then breaks, garage, then copious amounts of drum and bass (as well as other genres). I think dubstep is a sound head'z music genre the same way jazz is a true musician's genre. (Only a musician can truly appreciate jazz if you get me). i feel like these hippy types just latch on to the dubstep movement because it's somewhat reminiscent of reggae. where were they during the garage and drum and bass parties? they weren't privy to the gradual evolution that took place. They couldn't dance their way out of a wet paper bag. No steez. I must admit I have a bit of a beef with hippies. i consider myself a dubstepper and as such I want my scene to be reflective in some way of who i am and where i come from. i don't want the scene that i love to be associated with damn hippies. i was at a party in van a while back and there were hippies dancing with bloody hoola hoops for christ's sake. Im sure they don't have shit like that in London or Bristol (which i might remind you is where our beloved genre comes from). Where are our fucking balls vancouver? I wouldn't share a fucking cigarrette with most of the people in the vancouver scene. they're either cracked out on drugs and know nothing about the music, or they're involved in the music to the point of total arrogance and they think they're god's gift to dubstep and they can't even beat match. I like that dubstep is relatively new and as such it doesn't have an image associated with it. personally im not a big fan of MCs in dubstep because i think it creates a set image that goes along with the music. If music must always be accompanied by an image then I would want the dubstep image to be that of a somewhat jaded, yet knowledgable ex-raver with an appreciation for all the genres that led up to the dubstep phenomenon. the last image i want my scene to portray is one filled with smelly hippies. cut your damn hair and buy some decks and headphones damn it!

i mixed this. if you hate it, you can disregard my opinion. Listen to it. Then, once you're finished jerking off, you'll know im right.

your quote is perfect! im guilty of having that attitude for sure. Im so fuckin underground Im in a fuckin magma chamber byatch! Im fully laughing at myself right now!

don't get me wrong. i like pills and powder as much as the next guy, but that's not what makes the scene what it is. It's the craziness of this music that we all love. Besides, what self respecting individual has time to do drugs and be sketchy all the time? I turned 25 today. I've got shit to do, man! In my spare time I just smoke trees and sift through singles until I find a gem. Then I mix. dubstep is just so awesome and over the top fresh. i shouldn't hate on the poor hippies. they're just so damn filthy though. Forgive me.
