conscious_pilot wrote:that's so awesome that this thread exists. my best friend and i are head over heals for these cars...ever since we were kids. i owned a black 91 civic si. i sold mine though because the gas tank was leaking, the shocks/struts were bad, and the hoood needed to be replaced. it was so quick though, and way fun to drive. i had only a cold air intake on it, as well as a full exhaust system(headers/catback/etc)....they're seriously the hottest cars ever though. next in line is the crx...but youjust can't beat those hatches man. i think my next car will be a 91 crx if i can find one in decent shape. i own a IY 1.8t 20th now, and i love it...but seriously, nothing is better than 88-91 civic body style.
OUT TO YOU, FRIEND!!!!!!!!!

the '88-'91 (4G) is also the lightest AND the best handling. Just ask the boss of spoon racing who has one himself!!!!

A Japanese domestic racing CLASSIC.

If you are looking for a '91 CRX give me a shout on P.M. - I have connects in the CIVIC/CRX world and I reckon I can find you one wherever you are at a decent price. All about tha B-Series Engine!!!! wish I had one!!!!!! I gots 1 x D15 engine spare and 1 x D16A9 in project #2 though...

Once again, OUT TO YOU!! your chest, sir!

AAH the "look"

One look to control them all, one look to bind them.

A familiar concept, particularly with car enthusiast WAGS

it's the look that says "no pussy ever again" in one glint...

How about bringing car parts (or for that matter, anything)
INSIDE THE HOUSE :o

Then it's "the look II - this time it's personal"

only one thing stronger than the look...

Yes, no doubt on account of all that "SMOG" you have there.

I blame the government.

Here, they seem intent on mashing up all our cars with speed bumps, pot-holes and the like.
NOT a good look for CIVICS on racing suspension, or anything really.

If I could, I'd blow them all up with anti-tank grenades ( the speed bumps that is and possibly the speed cameras )
But that might make matters worse, with the resulting craters!

Let's all go to JAPAN where ( I'm told ) the air is clean and all the roads are smooth and flat like billiards tables!!!!!

:D

Plenty bargains to be had out there if you're skint too

BOTH of mine cost less than a good weekend on tha tiles for some people.

And mine's never been off tha road in 3 years, just gotta keep up on tha maintenance!!!!!

P.S. What type CIVIC did you have in tha good 'ol U.S. of A ?

Well I feel it almost sacrilage to say in this thread but I bought a 5 speed 2003 civic coupe LX brand new... first car I ever bought brand new. I put 80,000 miles on it and never had any problems with it what so ever. On top of that I sold it for 50% of the original cost... pretty good considering it was about three years old.

Also for being a LX and not the EX it still had quite a bit of kick to it. Never got a chance to mod it though, spent all my money on music gear.

Hey benny, I was talkin to barry eliminator(our resident petrol head) earlier about hondas, and he tells me that in the history of honda, only one engine has ever been returned to the factory as faulty. That to me is an impressive record of engineering.

Does he speak the truth?

Well, this could well be true.

I do not have definitive proof of this BUT:

Honda is the world's largest producer of engines and have been producing engines for 50 years or more so I imagine there may have been 1 or 2 more, possibly returned for reasons of bad casting.

They are the market leaders in electrical generator engines

They do have one of the best records for quality control in the world.

The tolerance level (accuracy) of their machining is superior to FERRARI

JAPANESE MANUFACTURE in general, as I have been told for many years by importers, is second to none for quality control.
Note: Check the label! Not all japanese branded goods are MADE IN JAPAN
particularly recently in the electronics market.

However, the UK model of CIVIC (4th generation) IS made in Japan. The US model is not, it is made in USA and as such, apparently slightly inferior to some extent or so I am told. There are many different model variants for every Honda depending on market and a minefield of different engines available, gearboxes, camshafts, body parts, and optional extras differ from country to country..usually the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) models are superior to others in specifications, and feature many parts not available in other markets.

The current Honda ACCORD a.k.a. EUROACCORD is made in the UK for export worldwide as is the new CIVIC TYPE R(2 and 4 door)

I believe their quality control record extends to this UK factory, due to thorough application of their checking processes.

Hope you are not all asleep yet zzzzzzz

out to the still interested gang!!!!

DOES BARRY DRIVE A HONDA????

IF SO, Pics please????

Always useful to have a resident petrolhead or two!!! LOL

I have seen barry in a honda, he has a myriad of cars in his mams back garden, mostly though whenever i see him hes in his white van.

Somehow he knew that your sig pic was a honda civic, before I told him about this thread,I dunno how you go about having that sort of knowledge.
