'Tekno' doesn't exist, it's what people call hardcore (or even drum & bass? o.O) to sound cool.

And a poor one too. It's not 'music', it's just a non-descriptor for the music that is played in the 'teknival scene', which were the large free parties back in the '90s in maindland Europe. The breakcore scene was born there.

These days people just use it because they like hardcore but don't wanna be compared to the Thunderdome crowd.

And no I can't. Hence why your posts have nothing to do with the topic at hand? o.O

well yeah i do get tired of dancing sometimes to the same beat, especisallly on a system where all you can hear is the bass so you cant even register the rhythm changes and move accordinlgy

thats why i like objekt so much cos his tunes have a load of variety (aswell as ridiculously clean production)

idk maybe im part of the internet generation everyone goes on about where i dont have the ability to concentrate on one thing for very long

i like techno, but i need to get into more, but i just cant be arsed like. its like i like the shit all these 'bass music' peeps are making, but like i wouldnt really like to say i like techno and then say them cos people will be like, 'ahh man your gay thats not real techno!' i like shed though, theres a certain type i like, i like the berlin stuff, and some of the detroit soulful stuff. but shit like plastikman and all that minimal bullshit is quite boring. jakob altmann is sick too.

Objekt is sick, Blawan/Karenn has been killing it lately too. I guess I'm just trying to find some more of the stuff thats not as associated with the "bass music" scene, cuz I can easily find out about all those releases. I haven't really gotten my foot thru the door of the straight techno genre, but this thread has helped. Almost all good suggestions so far. Speaking of Blawan, I though this tune was heavy as fuck

edit: just checkout out Jakob Altmann. guys a badman, wish I could hear more of his stuff

This is the one. Can't get over this tune. Love how broken the beat is.
Do you say zerbaman? Or do you say zebraman?

robert hood (minimal nation = good starting point)

basic channel/maurizio/chain reaction/substance & vainqueur (start with the scion 'arrange and process' mix)

surgeon/british murder boys/regis

planetary assault systems/luke slater

sandwell district/kalon/silent servant (my favourite stuff was mostly around 2007-2009)

marcel dettmann/ben klock/shed/wax/eqd/ostgut ton/the hardwax lot

jeff mills (start with the purpose maker videos, or try and find some footage of him doing his live 909 thing)

anthony shake shakir

monolake/t++/alva noto

sähko/ø/miko vainio's other numerous aliases

have fun!

Big up man, huge fan of your work. I see lots of names in there that I've already been getting real into so cant wait to check out the rest of them.

Btw don't really wanna get off topic here, but a while back, one of the first times I heard your stuff, you were playing on Rinse with Ben UFO. You played a sick song right before UFO went back on with CLK. It had like some weird vox or something, but I've been trying to find that song ever since I heard it that night lol. The track you played before that was nice too. Any chance you remember the songs I'm talking about?
