It is tough to see the difference between a group of teenage horrorcore fans making intentionally shocking rap videos and a hipster girl making fun dance records over all the best dancefloor producers around... it's a really similar vibe.
I used to get Eminem and Nelly mixed up all the time.

Not much a fan of OF, it's really got this LA Apathy going on. Like Hipster is being marketed to the "minority" community.
just barely makes the cut really. And not much at all in my book. Some ov the darker beats, I like. but Ts voice isnt ever really worth listening to.

Azealia Banks, The Harlem-bred rapper deleted her Twitter account yesterday after addressing recent controversies regarding her split with Troy Carter, who also works with Lady Gaga. Denouncing male managers completely, Banks vowed to either manage herself or enlist the help of a female manager in the future. She ranted in true Azealia Banks fashion in her final tweets:
“I know who you are yes…You short bald man…I know you planted these false stories.”
“Guess what?: I’m still not going to let you manage me again. I’ve dealt with enough cyber bullying to see right thru this.”
“I will definitely be working BY MYSELF and saving MY 20% On management commissions while I avoid you sharks in the water….”
“I really want a female manager. Women are just so much smarter.”
“I just want a really hardcore woman…Or a really gay man as my manager…You other n-ggas have WAY too much ego sh-t with y’all.”
“I just need a lady with some really intimidating glasses and a crazy shoe game to just stomp all you phonies out!”
“Lol I’m dead serious tho…About not hiring another male manager. The next manager you all see will be the kuniest tnuc ever.”
The rapstress then took it a step further on her Tumblr account with a post entitled “NO LONGER WISHING TO BE A RAPPER.” Straying away from the rap genre, Banks announced that she would be taking another path:
“From now on I’m a vocalist, and will not be associating myself with the ‘rap game’ … or whatever the f-ck that means…”
It would indeed be a shame if Banks hangs up her rap career before it fully launches, but fans will have to wait and see. Perhaps Banks will have a Twitter change of heart a la Nick Minaj, but until then you can stay abreast of her latest thoughts via her Tumblr page.

i know where rayman is coming from.
imo azealia banks is the lady gaga of her scene (and odd future is the same in theirs); shes an attention whore, and will use shock to get that attention. soon we'll tire of her just saying tnuc, and she'll have to find something else.

Seems to be music these day though, as much hype as you can cram in with barely enough skill to get by before you have exhausted your 1D style and hopefully by then, you have made enough to not have to go back to waiting tables.
Music to "Acting" to Celeb Big Brother on Ice to Tabloid Whore to Fat recluse doing the occasional public appearance for nostalgia while pushing their kids through the same meat grinder.

You've got to shout loud to be heard over all the background noise of all the various "scenes" nowadays. It's pretty difficult to have any crossover potential without being incredibly noticeable.

I think that is the weakest analogy. Also I think anyone calling shock value is just being a little cynical.
It's not purely down to the fact she swears a lot in her most popular song that she is popular. It's super fucking catchy dance floor music. In fact one of my mates had only ever heard the censored version of 212 being played out in places and said he only just realised it was a dirty song. I'm wondering if that's the case for anyone else.
Oh yeah and why don't you just write off all booty bass tunes off as being like Odd Future while you're at it too.
